rangeelaraja Posted March 8 Posted March 8 As our white ball game has reached next level. We have just deteriorated as a Test side. It was once a titantic achievement to even win a test match in India -- from there to getting white washed by both NZ and SA at home. Our test batting has sucked big time against spinners in these conditions. And we don't have a good replacement for Ashwin/Jaddu to grind down touring sides.
Prabhdeep Singh Posted March 8 Posted March 8 I believe Sanju Samson/Ishan Kishan can be looked at as back up wicket keeper as a starting point
bowl_out Posted March 8 Posted March 8 For a start, build Test teams with specialists. 1 all rounder is enough. 2 at the max. Pick players based on their primary skill. Build a strong top 5 instead of shuffling around players so frequently.
Lord Posted March 9 Posted March 9 Have to consider split coaching just like captaincy. Back domestic performers and not pick based on whiteball. bowl_out 1
vvvslaxman Posted March 9 Posted March 9 Naqbi should be brough in asap when in form. Let us see how he reacts at the highest level
The Realist Posted March 9 Posted March 9 New coach New captain New players Need a strategy about goals, targets and which players to build around. Test team has been in freefall in the last few years.

jf1gp_1 Posted March 21 Posted March 21 Every young cricketer today wants to be a t20 player. Technique can goto hell. Batter or bowler they only prepare for 24 deliveries. Continue on this path and we will be like pakistan team, lack mental capacity to play 5 day test cricket. I think selectors should come up with a rule. To be selected for t20 minimum entry criteria is 20-30 Ranji games with avg of 40. You then know batsman is fundamentally sound. Bowler also need some criteria besides wicket/avg something like 20 games and avg of 20 overs per full inning.

Why the heck anyone would play Nitish Reddy in place of a specialist batsman. Also Sai Sudarshan is not an establisehd first class player yet. Okay you tried. Should have moved on pretty quickly. They tried to make it work. Sarfraz was also left in cold. In Indian conditions Mayank >> almost every batsman we have especially turning wicket. Gambhir ruined it by having these pitches and not picking a team that can play on these pitches.
nevada Posted March 21 Posted March 21 Prepare proper pitches with something in them for bowler as well as batsman. If we lose, we lose but we don't want garbage pitches. Mentor batsmen about putting a premium on their wicket and not to shiver at the very sight of spin or movement. Do the right things first and results will follow.

Manucrick Posted March 21 Posted March 21 We need a another coach for test cricket and should pick domestic spin bowlers not ipl stars
Lone Wolf Posted March 21 Posted March 21 (edited) Indian test cricket is on ventilator coz Ranji Trophy sucks... When a team with no financial or infrastructure JK is beating top domestic big wigs and becoming Champion shows the level of Ranji Trophy and first class talent in general. The technique of batters and especially spin and fast bowling on display is honestly absolute downright pathetic. India needs to adopt unconventional methods to deploy a competitive test unit in the near term. Filter out players and back them on potential and especially pitches need to be bit better. Jadeja Axar Sundar need to be dumped as they can't spin the ball anymore. Find spinners who can spin on good Tracks and Pacers who can reverse the ball like Peak Umesh and Shami. Focus on having 7 gun batters rather than bits and pieces all rounders for batting depth. We need 20 wickets to win games and outbowl opposition in India. @Nikhil_cric what do you think is the solution.. I know for a fact that FC domestic cricket sucks right now Edited March 21 by Lone Wolf

Ensure that all domestic cricket(including IPL) does not last more than 25-27 consecutive weeks to ensure that players have a proper off season . Edited March 21 by Nikhil_cric Lone Wolf 1
rkt.india Posted March 21 Posted March 21 T20 is tennis ball version of International cricket. I don't like it much but that's what is selling. Test future of India is bleak.
Ultimate_Game Posted March 21 Posted March 21 In the longer run Test cricket i son its way out. Tests was ok for the time when it was invented in 1800s. People had time and not much competition for other modes of entertainment to spend 5-6 days on Test match. But in this day and age, you can't spend the same amount of time to play a Test which runs to one-third duration of the entire Olympics games! Nobody has time to watch the whole match across 5 days. Once the current gen goes, Tests will go along with them. ODIs are the new Tests and only T20s and ODI formats will remain. And can't blame anyone as its the natural evolution of sports. Broadcasters and sponsors won't subsidize Test cricket for long and there'll come a point where they don't find anyone willing to back it.

Then better start playing T20 with the tennis ball or wind ball if ball bashing is the only cricket left. Soorma Bhopali 1
