It's a negotiated bulk wholesale price: USD 83.22/barrel base + USD 5.50 premium, equating to ~₹51/l after USD-INR conversion (verified via total contract value of USD 119.13M). This differs from India's domestic retail (~₹88/l in Delhi), which adds excise/VAT. No subsidy involved.

India should rather strengthen the garrisons and give more weapons to BSF/Assam Rifles/SSB. We are repeating the same mistake here which previous govt. did with Pakistan, assuming that people will see the good. "Bangla"desh is finished, dead. So its not 83.22 per barrel to start with. Will be signifinatly more than rs51 given prices have increased due to Iran war. This is just fake news really.
G_B_ Posted March 11 Posted March 11 Ok looked at my bloomberg. Spot price is 130 usd + fixed refiner margin per barrel. So lets take 135usd per barrel. Typically one standard barrel contains 158 litres. So per litre its 158/135 is 1.17 usd. 1.17 usd *91.9 (usdinr rate) is rs107. This is a ball park figure for the spot price. So in any case its fraud to say rs51. Extremely sly from opposition accounts to say its rs51 and ignore that the 82 usd per barrel price that existed in jan 2026 has not changed. The only other explanation is that the refiner brought in bulk (via futures) in Jan 2026 to supply to bd when deal was struck. Which means that rs 51 will drastically increase to 100 plus to reflect current spot prices in time to come. This too have conviniently been ignored for rage baiting. Bottomline the refiner is making a solid profit regardless.
