New guy Posted April 30 Posted April 30 Lol, got away with 25% match fee fine and one demerit point. In the past players have been penalized 50% match fees just for celebrating a wicket. We all know why he got such low punishment, any other player would have been fined more heavily. Lord 1

Also celebrating a wicket is on the cricket field. In front of 1000s of people. This is inside in a dressing room recorded by a voyeur. Why is the impulse to punish so strong in us? I am assuming doing something which is illegal by law in India would be a bit bigger than some passionate celebration. Now mind that I am not advocating for harsher punishment for either of these things, I am just saying any other player would have faced a much harsher punishment while doing the exact same thing, and he got away because of his connections. Sarfraz was removed from the team just based on some rumors and suspicions. All players are equal, some are just more equal than others. Edited April 30 by New guy Lord 1
Mariyam Posted April 30 Posted April 30 No idea about Sarfaraz or what he did. Please educate me. What are these connections that you speak of @New guy?
Mariyam Posted April 30 Posted April 30 @New guy There are broadly two aspects: Vaping which is illegal. Let's discuss that first. Most people of Parag's age who would be vaping on the road outside pubs and bars in public sight Kormangala do not get caught or reprimanded. You simply cannot selectively apply legislation on one person who has done what is a de facto norm among a type of people. There would literally be 10000s of precedents against any action. This brings us to second part. If you want to punish, you have to bring in vague concepts like 'disrepute to the game' or 'tarnish the image of a stadium' etc. It is because the law (IPL Code of Conduct) is not precise in its definition of what constitutes disrepute. IPL Code of Conduct doesn't even mention vapes, just FYI. Rai ka pahad?
BacktoCricaddict Posted April 30 Posted April 30 Well .. at least someone caught something in this IPL Vickydev, Lord, maniac and 4 others 7

Sarfraz was accused of leaking dressing room talk to media, without any proof and since that time was dropped and never selected in any squad by Gambhir Parag's father is closely related to the RR owner, Ranjit Barthakur, Ranjit (who is also from Guwahati) even admitted the home games of RR was shifted from Jaipur to Guwahati just to promote Parag's career and on Parag's sole request. This is why RR retains Parag every year, despite mostly below average performances, except in 2024. This is also why Parag is RR captain over players like Jaiswal. He is a nepo baby. maniac Posted May 2 Author Posted May 2 (edited) found this video of Parag bowling that I had saved, as I said tremendous potential with the ball and his batting and confidence (sometimes over confidence) is a huge plus. We can make fun of him but this guy has some potential. However needs to show a lot of consistency and bowl a lot lot more, @express bowling @Suhaan how does his bowling look to you ? He looks impressive with the ball and could have been a massive upgrade over Jadeja in ODIs.Much like Tendulkar he has the ability to bowl both legspin and offspin. he doesn't do justice to his skills, there is a sense of laziness and unprofessionalism about him.He seems to lack the urge to take his game to the next level when it truly matters express bowling, Mosher and maniac 3

This is what i heard on some podcast, who i am sure have added some masala. In Australia, it was suspected that he was leaking dressing room info to media plus did a whole lot of backbiting to somehow get into playing xi. Obviously, Rohit didn't appreciate it. Mariyam 1
