Yes, there was. It's pre-monsoon rain time. Eastern India already seeing huge rain even this year. Bengaluru too. Bengaluru matches had to be shifted last year too because of rain.

Bengal doesn't see much rain in May. June se start hota hai.

 

SW Monsoon hits Kerala first, takes time to traverse up north. For most of India, July and Aug is main SW monsoon period.

Rain started in May last year. This year too, rains happening in Bengal.
