ungboysj Posted May 13 Posted May 13 (edited) We have already won 3 world cups in 20 years and almost everyone on this forum was alive to see all 3 wins and relish it . I don't care about 20-20 anymore ,I don't want 4th cup , almost retired from this format, so should everyone here. Biggest priority is to win odi World Cup 2027, then WTC and later to have a team which can win all SENA series in one cycle and when olympics come around focus on that Let's have more threads on these And stop threads on ipl and who shd play 20-20 . I don't care if they make unadkat and dinda as it's captain just stop it Edited May 13 by ungboysj KV244, Manucrick and diga 3

NameGoesHere Posted May 13 Posted May 13 I can’t influence what others do. Hence my choice is to zone out completely during IPL season. I’m a huge fan of the IPL for what it has done for Indian cricket. Long may it prosper. But I can’t watch a single game. Haven’t watched a full game since the first two or three seasons, not even the finals. it’s too bloody much, an assault on the senses and is leaching away at the joy of my cricket watching experience. sage and Norman 1 1
Nikhil_cric Posted May 13 Posted May 13 I want an ODI World Cup. Barely following IPL. ungboysj and Manucrick 1 1

KV244 Posted May 13 Posted May 13 I also want India to Win WTC. So that BCCI won't force Virat Kohli to play test cricket again.
Suhaan Posted May 13 Posted May 13 Can't cap the desire to win multiple icc events ,keep them coming Be it in t20s,Odis or tests We had a painful drought, don't need that sort of gap Next target should be Odis, wtc ,and keep the T20 side completely different Introduce more pacers in odis than in t20s ,create another crop of pacers,ARs to dominate for long period Tillu, KV244, Nikhil_cric and 1 other 4
tapandrun Posted May 13 Posted May 13 (edited) Only ipl is broadcasted and tlvised , there is no way to know who is Ind potential by looking the scorecards. Sub 130 kmph bowler are dominating the domestic who are no good for intnl level, even batters who score truck load of runs does nt look intnl potential. IPl should be looked as a criteria to just provide new/uncapped players a chase to show case their talent and from there they can be picked and developed for t20is. Ipl performance by players who have already played for Ind and lost their place should not be gauged on ipl performances, they should be assessed based on why they failed or unable to retain place in Ind side and have they resolved it or not. Ipl is good for checking pacers as it has the speedometers you can see and check who are bowling good pace which can be used for and developed for intnl . Once high potential/high pace bowlers are identified they should be developed for intnl levels for diff. formats. For upcoming Odi wc have posted this multiple times --top 5+1 (pandaya )are locked and Ind needs to create a 8.5-9.0 points teams around them. Which req. 1 near express pacer, 1 pacer who can bat and a LH middle order batter preferably able to bowl few overs Edited May 13 by tapandrun Suhaan 1

We need proper pacers in ODIs and Tests. High pace is not important and even counterproductive in T20 cricket. We just need that deep explosive batting lineup and and a bowling attack with variety and we are good. tapandrun and Suhaan 2

They haven't been able to win it the last 3 times so do you think they're gonna win it now when they're bordering 40? When half the team is either too old or mental midgets or both, it's not gonna win anything. Likes of Rohit, Kohli, Gill, KL, Jadeja need to be replaced but won't be. We started winning in T20s when we changed our approach and got in youngsters. Unless we do the same in ODIs, nothing's gonna change. The sad part is these oldies & misfits have wasted the careers of Bumrah and Shami and it's sad to see that they will most probably retire without a ODI WC trophy thanks to the oldies. Tillu 1

Every format has specialist players, atleast few of them who play only one format. They will have an eye of winning the cup in the format they have been selected to play in. They will care to win one.
goose Posted May 14 Posted May 14 we are heading for 6 sides on 7/8 wins from 12 played with just 2 more to go. it's not a league in any normal sporting sense. it's a coin flip. very lucrative for those involved. the first 50 games every season are largely irrelevant serving only to decide which 2 teams are crap. sage 1
zen Posted May 15 Posted May 15 Personal preferences do not dictate how the game gets run! T20 is here to stay at the moment and it will be discussed as it gets played. And since it gets played, you would want your team to do well in it. IPL is held every year and is among the most followed tournament. jf1gp_1 1
Zero_Unit Posted May 15 Posted May 15 I have stopped following IPL a while ago. This year, completely zero. Not even highlights (except Kohli's 100). Might watch the finals but yet to be seen. My fav format has always been ODI - I watch it when I can. But are you suggesting that IND should not take part in the T20 wc? lol ...
Gollum Posted May 15 Posted May 15 (edited) Do not fall in the trap of SENA folks, Pooks, Kanglus who have recently being undermining this format just because we are doing well. Same set of people would happily poke fun of IPL all these years when we sucked in WT20s. Have you all forgotten how they were gloating during the Dewbai WC or after the Adelaide SF defeat against Poms? Sky panel was so condescending towards us that night. Test cricket is the ultimate format but T20 is the format which is difficult to dominate or build a dynasty, That is why hardly any repeat winner not just in internationals but also leagues. Let us give our boys, IPL, system, coaches (right from local leagues, grassroots) due credit, for how they have become an unstoppable force after that night in Adelaide. This format will keep growing because Olympics hai na. Aussies may pretend to not care about this format but if they fail to medal in LA, they will become a punching bag for Aussie public, wait and watch. I always laugh when whites bemoan the dominance of bat over ball in this format, how it is making a mockery of cricket etc. These SOBs had no qualms in changing every possible rule in hockey when they couldn't compete with Ind, Pak, right from offside rule to shape/dimensions of the stick, to choice of turf....made the sport an out and out power-backed game (they wouldn't dare do the same in football lest the Africans impose their will on them), no artistry.....they indulge in all forms of skulduggery when they have the upper hand, just like how they decided how things would be run during Imperial Cricket Council days. BCCI in contrast rarely flex their power in cricket related matters, as long as they can do their dhandogiri, they are happy. Enjoy the golden run, and may we keep collecting all the trophies and gold medals for eternity, may IPL become as big as NBA and NFL. Have to improve in other formats, sure, but not at the cost of T20. Edited May 16 by Gollum express bowling, KV244, Tillu and 1 other 4
