Ultimate_Game Posted July 1 Posted July 1 (edited) I'm shocked nobody in Indian media is calling BCCI and team management out on it as there's a deliberate and a calculated attempt to undermine Sooryavanshi and bring him down. Nobody saw Sooryavanshi coming the way he did and he became a threat for every "superstar". BCCI had no choice but to select Sooryavanshi as he was heads and shoulders above every other player in IPL. Sooryavanshi swept all the awards and there wasn't anyone in the same ballpark as him. BCCI and team management was forced to select him but came up with this plan to undermine him. They're giving him the Jaiswal treatment just like Jaiswal was sidelined despite being the best batter in the team. The team management will keep Sooryavanshi on the bench undermining his confidence and give him the last game hoping he fails, which he most likely will after riding the bench for more than a month. Then they'll claim he isn't "ready" for intl cricket and sideline him. I see a Jaiswal 2.0 situation. Team and BCCI knows that had Sooryavanshi gotten all 7 games this tour (2 against Ireland and 5 against Eng) he's too good not to play a couple of match-winning innings and then they would never be able to kick him out. They would've to make way for him and chances are he would've forced his way into ODIs and WC team too. Their only chance was to ensure Sooryavanshi doesn't take off coz if he does, it's game over for the other "Sooperstars". So they decided to make him another Jaiswal. Lone Wolf Posted July 1 Posted July 1 Jaiswal was never the best T20 option for India. Suryavanshi is different and should be getting his chances. My guess is Sanju will be the casualty as he seems to struggle v much against moving ball but they don't want to rush things as it would be harsh on Sanju. Vaibhav will have to wait for a bit. If he fails though they will soon dump him as well. My guess is rope will be shorter for him as he is too young
Bigg Brother Posted July 1 Posted July 1 Nah nothing like that man. He will come sooner or later in XI. Right now he is their marketing tool for future series.. He is too young, right now they are riding the popularity wave. They will play him, will have to play him, no option.

And just like Jaiswal is not the best option for ODIs? It's clear some players are never the best "option". Likes of Jaiswal, Rinku, Sarfaraz will always be part of that group.

That didn't stop him from out-playing everyone at IPL. And if the plan was not to play him coz he's "too young" why select him? This will only undermine his confidence sitting on the bench. Remember he's just a teenager. Sitting on the bench he'll start doubting himself when likes of Sundar play ahead of him. Worst part would be if he's given a token game just to play him and he fails in that one solitary game. That'll give the team and selectors an excuse to dump him citing "he's too young and not ready for intl cricket" excuse. If they really wanted to give Sooryavanshi a proper shot, they would've played him every match and alternated between Samson and Ishan as the wk. But they never really wanted to give him a proper chance and were forced to select him due to his performances.
Adamant Posted July 2 Posted July 2 Yet another conspiracy theory! Vaibhav will get his chances, time is not running out for him. Everyone wants to see him play but Samson just won us a world t20 and Abhishek is performing. Not that easy to kick em out. BCCISelector, tapandrun and Vk1 3

Sorry Bhai but this isn't true This is a team that literally won the world cup. The one player who is most likely to be dropped played three all time great T20i knocks back to back. It is right that he gets a run.

Yes, Iyer for captain but not keeping Sooryavanshi out. If Iyer is the one who's taking the decision, then totally against it. You don't pick someone like Sooryavanshi in the team and then let him ride the bench. You would want to give him the best chance to succeed which would be give him all 7 games but they haven't done that.

They should've planned for it when they selected him else why do that? I thought they would give 3-4 games to Samson and 3-4 games to Ishan. i.e. alternate between the two for the wk role at 3 and give Sooryavanshi the opening slot along with Abhishek. Sooryavanshi is a talent like none before him and you don't want to make sure he succeeds. The best option was to give him all 7 games so that he eases himself in intl cricket and has enough chances to succeed. Now if they give him just one or two games, imagine the pressure on him coz if he doesn't succeed in those 1-2 games, people will be out for him. Make no mistake that the whole world will be out for him - non-Indians as a way to mock him & Indian cricket and happy he failed and our own fans who'll claim there's a difference between IPL and intl cricket. Imagine what the bloke will need to endure as a teenager! I want to make sure he doesn't go through this scenario and puts his best foot forward. But not to be due to the phuckin team management and their myopic view.
vvvslaxman Posted July 2 Posted July 2 This theory of they must play all world cup winners for eternity because they won it is stupid. These bilaterals are mainly used to test bench strength. Why do they feel insecure? There were many occasions some of our main players missed matches. Ultimate_Game and BacktoCricaddict 2
Rightarmfast Posted July 2 Posted July 2 Anybody who thinks its not intentional and not a conspiracy is naive. This is a deliberate attempt. What are players like Dubey contributing exactly, anyway? wanted_desi 1

What are players like Dubey contributing exactly, anyway? We have seen Deepak Hooda open against Ireland under Hardik's captaincy. We didn't have Rohit, kohli or anyone else in that team. Why do suddenly they think world cup winners must play all the games? But for that experiment these guys would not have been regulars now. When the shoe is on the other foot they think differently. When they are new to scene they want more and more chances. Once they become seniors they think others have to wait. Ultimate_Game and Rightarmfast 1 1

Severe limitations himself while facing spin. Sarfaraz is simply not there for non cricketing reasons and he didn't break the door down either in domestic cricket off late. Jaiswal is clearly better option than Rohit as an opener in ODIs and his exclusion has been called unfair. In T20I Gill and Jaiswal are probably same level. Both lock their wrists and can't play at high tempo for long or in certain conditions. Gill a better accumulator there as well as he has shown in IPL. Both have minnow bashed in their T20I career and numbers are severely inflated by bashing Zimbabwe Nepal and WI (in Florida) Edited July 2 by Lone Wolf
Rightarmfast Posted July 2 Posted July 2 Aren't most of the current players playing on the hype created by IPL? Playing on these batting pattas? Whereas Suryavanshi just played in overseas conditions in England, and did pretty outstanding? Ultimate_Game 1
