Indian Pace Bowling lineup needs a revamp!

Bumrah is now more an occasional player. He still has it in him when he plays, but other than him, nobody has really shown any good results.

Siraj is moderately successful in Tests, gets occasionally picked for LOIs with mixed results, but a big liability in the field and can't bat. Still he is probably our second best bowler right now.

Prasidh, Harshit get regularly spanked because they just cannot bowl a good line and length consistently. They cannot even bowl a few economical overs on the trot even in Tests, forget about LOIs.

Gurnoor, Prince are too early to make judgements on, but initial results haven't been great.

Arshdeep seems past his utility days, regularly leaking runs nowadays and not even getting those early wickets.

Even the spin department looks completely listless and the cupboard seems bare.

It's high time we found some other bowlers to take their place: bowlers who can regularly bowl a good line and length and have the ability to move the ball even a little on flatter surfaces.

We won't be able to win much with the current lot in the manner in which they are bowling.

Even on belter, 10-0-97-0 is completely unacceptable.

Can’t let IPL fool us, Prince Yadav is extremely mediocre for international standard.

Brar gets forgiven for being inexperienced and playing on a super patta for today, he has something I feel we can work with.

Praisdh unfortunately is a few good pacers who have who don’t slip on intensity and pace despite being brainless so till we get better bowler, he can’t go anywhere. Obviously not fit for T20,

I've seen prasidh krishna from his kkr days since 2018.

He has not at all improved .

Any bowler who cannot even land the ball consistenly on a good line and length even after so many chances is undeserving of any more chances. Prasidh is just that. He gets taken apart even in Test matches amd even by tailenders. In Tests also, it is important to maintain the pressure and as soon as Prasidh comes on to bowl, he will give away a couple of boundary balls and any pressure built up by Bumrah or another bowler at the other end is immediately relieved.

You can handle one new comer like Gurnoor, But if you have five inept bowlers at the the same time nothing will change.

Guy like Shami doesn’t not grow on trees. These monsters have killed his career without any explanation.

Shami has fitness issues. Even in IPL he barely completed his 4 overs

In the first 2 ODIs, our pace attack of Bumrah + Gurnoor + Prasidh bowled really well. Won us the 1st game. Fought very well in the 2nd one despite our batters scoring just 233.

The issues in this game were ....

1 ) There was no leader of the attack.

2 ) As Shardul Thakur pointed out in commentary ... Gurnoor, Arshdeep and Prince had never played at Lord's. They were having balance issues due to the slope.

3 ) Prince Yadav is not an ODI pacer. He replaced the injured Harshit because he happened to be in England.

4 ) This pitch was very flat and we scored 360 too.

It is big blunder to exclude shami. If  he is fit he is much better than Arshdeep, gurnoor etc

Except 2 or 3 games, Shami was huffing and puffing after bowling 2 overs on the trot in the IPL.

His real age is almost 39.

I disagree, he deserved a chance to play before being kicked out.

Arshdeep has disappointed me. Should be performing much better here

As I said earlier we need to try more young pacers especially those who can bat at 8

Arshad/Nabi are no.8 contenders

Sakib, Tyagi, Ashok can be tried too

Arshdeep lacks the pace for flat pitches.

He is okay if swing is on offer.

On flat pitches they are likely to disappoint too.

Harshit is the first pick at 8, if fit.

Sakib hasn't even debuted in List A.

Tyagi's 50 over fitness is not known.

Ashok is a realistic choice. But I think he too will get hit on flat tracks like today.

Apart from Bumrah, India has never really tried to develop any 140 k+ pacers with white ball skills.

So, we either have trundlers or inaccurate quicks for T20Is and ODIs.

And both will get hit against big teams.

We can pick X or Y or Z.

But there will not be any material difference.

Even Shami was great in the first 35 overs or so. But often got hit at the death.

There has to be a methodical approach to teach white ball skills to the upcoming 140 k+ quicks. But I don't see it happening yet. Generally speaking, our bowler development program lacks structure.

It happens even bhuvi has gone over 100 runs so yes shyte happens broad was hit for six sixes doesn't mean he was bad

More than a total revamp, these players just need proper guidance. They need a quality bowling coach, not just for the senior team, but at the 'A' team level too who can actually work with them to develop their skills. Right now, the bowling looks completely planless. We need someone like Bharat Arun to come in and give these bowlers some clear direction.
