adi B Posted August 15, 2013 Posted August 15, 2013 I certainly don't watch a movie within a few days of its release of a star who I dislike and the vast majority of his movies I dislike. I might watch it later after ascertaining from reviews and people that it might be something I will enjoy. yeah i agree on that, get the reviews, watch later with the consideration who the protagonist is
trundlerNO1 Posted August 15, 2013 Posted August 15, 2013 Bodyguard was truly awful,......Salman-acting and talent????:hysterical: One of most undeserving superstar in India, who has no talent at all. Salman movies I really liked are Tere Naam, Wanted and Dabaang Part 1
Lord Posted August 15, 2013 Posted August 15, 2013 You didn't like the script of Bodyguard? I thought it was awesome' date=' but now that I think about it maybe it was Salman Khan's acting which made it appear great.[/quote'] :giggle:
randomGuy Posted August 15, 2013 Posted August 15, 2013 so u watch a movie just because of the star or not watch a movie due to the absence of that star? May I answer as well? with your permission : I do watch or not watch movie for a star. Like for the past couple of years I haven't watched a single movie of SRK, Akshay or Salman after having wasted time and money over some crap movies from these guys. I would want to see every movie from Aamir Khan for now. Otherwise genre wise, I like comedies, romentic comedies , movies on sports. I also like to see newcomers' movies like Band baja baraat, Ladies Vs Ricky Bahl, Ishaqzaade, Student of the year etc.
trundlerNO1 Posted August 15, 2013 Posted August 15, 2013 I never do watch based on stars, My girlfriend forced me to watch CE. I always go with reviews and how the trailers looks. Salman khan films are worthy of being watched online for free apart from Dabaang aned wanted
Yoda-esque Posted August 15, 2013 Posted August 15, 2013 I'd say that the hallmark of a good actor is being able to shine in a role/movie which isn't that good. Anyone and his uncle can do justice to meaningful roles. Eg Even Ajay Devgan acted well in The Legend of Bhagat Singh. The challenge is to be an outstanding performer when the script and storyline has gone awry/ is non existent. Salman Khan in Bodyguard is an epitome of such talent. Acting is subjective. Very few actors can rise above a mediocre script and bad direction. Jack Nicholson is one of those (Batman?) I find it funny when people say "XYZ has done good acting". Its the director and the script that makes all the difference since films are not a reactive medium.Everything is planned and thought out well. What you see is simply a manifestation of all the good things that have gone in.
vvvslaxman Posted August 15, 2013 Posted August 15, 2013 Vijay, Dileep, Salman have played the same role in different languages. Vijay i never liked him much like Salman. Dileep is much more tolerable than these two. Don't know who did Telugu version.

An actor's acting is as good as a director extracts out of him. Same for a film, director is the pilot and everything depends on him.

Used to be a terrible actor.

akshayxyz Posted August 15, 2013 Posted August 15, 2013 Jiro Dreams of Sushi - ( its on netflix, with subtitles). http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1772925/ Very good documentary/story of purest form of passion (craziness!) - worth a watch, even if you are not a foodie.
akshayxyz Posted August 15, 2013 Posted August 15, 2013 Now this is a film I am really looking forward, it been highly critically acclaimed at cannes. Irfan and Nawaz working together is a delight. Enq9nNGnMFY&hd=1 The trailer of LB on YT works only in India, so people outside India like me can watch on this daily motion link http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x134lyc_the-lunchbox-official-trailer-irrfan-khan-nimrat-kaur-nawazuddin-siddiqui_shortfilms?start=7 :two_thumbs_up: Looks good.. Bollywood needs to make more of such simple stories.

SLICKR392 Posted August 15, 2013 Posted August 15, 2013 Bodyguard was a rip off from a Malayalam movie. Both were dumb. I don't think Outy's refering to that.
