GautiMaan Posted March 28, 2012 Author Posted March 28, 2012 We will get an idea about the current crop when we tour lanka in august, should be interesting.
zaqw222222 Posted March 28, 2012 Posted March 28, 2012 Malik?Never heard of him.Isnt he the first fixer or something? He was a very good player of spin. Cricinfo states that he was the first man who really got on top of Shane Warne. Azhar and Siddhu both were good players of spin
GautiMaan Posted March 28, 2012 Author Posted March 28, 2012 Greg Blewett - guess which category. An average of 17 against india tells the story,What about the english legend robin smith?
vvvslaxman Posted March 28, 2012 Posted March 28, 2012 though quite a few runs have been scored by non subcontinent batters when the pitches have been flat ' date='but cant really remember too many great knocks by them when the pitch has assisted turn .[/quote'] True.. we all saw how India was floundering against Pakistan spinners on day 5 pitch at Bangalore. Only guy who played with any authority in that test was Sehwag.
Stuge Posted March 28, 2012 Posted March 28, 2012 Andy flower was a very good player of spin bowling .Most of the time it was between Andy flower vs whole Indian team .
daryl1985 Posted March 28, 2012 Posted March 28, 2012 Does anyone know how Yusuf Pathan plays spin in domestic cricket. He is an out and out slogger but he can be murderous against the spinners. Sehwag is another animal.

Khalpat Posted March 29, 2012 Posted March 29, 2012 I hope that OP is talking about Test matches because in ODI's a different mindset is needed for playing spinners, there spinners are for playing strokes and spinners also have the tendency to give less flighted deliveries so there batsman who are genuine stroke players like : Sehwag, Yusuf Pathan, Sachin are much more effective. The best batsman I had seen in ODI playing spinners is Sir Viv Richards no body can come close to him. In test matches the story is different, you need players having great footwork, patience, know how to handle flighted deliveries as in test matches spinner will give more air so players having temprament and technique will succeed. For Eg: Players like Dravid, Laxman, Sachin etc. But for me the best player against spinners has been Kallis, Amla, Younis Khan and Lara.
Prakat Posted March 29, 2012 Posted March 29, 2012 Sidhu, by far. He was Ganguly's baap when it came to dancing down the pitch and lifting one over the bowler's head or the covers for a six. Sidhu coming in to bat always meant that the spinner's spell was over for the moment.

Sid Posted March 29, 2012 Posted March 29, 2012 Sehwag is best player of spin I have ever seen. He is probably most dominating player of spin bowling ever. It won't be too much to say that he is miles ahead when it comes to destroying the spinners. Players like Lara, Sachin, Dravid might have better technique. Sehwag takes lot of risks against spinners, but most of the time it is calculated risk rather than blind slogging. His 155 against Australia. All Indian batsmen were struggling and this was Warne's best series in India. " "]Virender Sehwag 155 vs Australia 2nd test 2004 It was spinner friendly track and if I'm not wrong Kumble took 7 wickets in first inning. SEHWAG 319 - YouTube Watched both the innings in stadium :proud: It was as if he was batting in a different pitch :hatsoff:
BeautifulGame Posted March 29, 2012 Posted March 29, 2012 I too watched the match in stadium:icflove:. I would say Martyn's in that match was better than Sehwag's.Just my opinion though.
zaqw222222 Posted March 29, 2012 Posted March 29, 2012 Michael Clarke is another one who is a good player of spin, very good use of the feet while dealing with spin
