What do ICFers make out of Ishant Sharma?

He turned the corner once and that's his only achievement. Rubbish bowler, not even half decent. He would not have been playing international cricket if he was in some other team. 45 tests matches and he doesn't know basic thing - taking wickets in international cricket. He shouldn't be international cricket. Unfortunately there aren't many people to replace him. You can say that he is unlucky and all that crap but taking wickets is most important in test cricket and if you can't do that then you're useless. He got too many chances. Many bowlers play 50-60 matches in their whole career. He bowled decently against bottom 3 teams - Bangaldesh, NZ and WI. Against rest of teams, he averages 45+. Similar to some batsman with few centuries against minnows and avg 20 against other countries.

i think he should go bald...that`ll enhance his performance, he`ll look more silly when he will grim with his tongue out nd bald hair, that`ll make the batsmen laugh like hell nd fall into his trap, thats intelligence for ya

Needs time away from international cricket to hone his skills. Post his rehab should be asked to play the full season of domestic cricket and if possible a county stint next year.
Agree. :two_thumbs_up: there were a few technical glitches after WI away series. Needs to work on his release to get the movement off the pitch he used to get earlier, he lost that after England series completely and because of that he didn't have confidence to pitch the ball up. domestic season where he can monitored by his coach, will be good.

Exactly. He should go back to learning domestic cricket and try to learn skills instead of keep on failing in international matches. This is best time for him. He is only 23 and even if it takes him 2-3 years to develop as a bowler he would still get many years to play international cricket. In fact he should have been making more appearances at domestic scene 2 years ago.

I still feel there is a turnaround around the corner.......Even in Eng and Aus,he had a few spells were he looked like a world beater but very inconsistent. He is much better than what Zak was at the same point in his career.

sad thing is he himself believes it.if he keeps believing he is unlucky he wont work on his bowling
this. u know watching him struggle in australia was nothing compared to hearing to his interview talking abt his luck....changing the spelling of his name so tht luck comes back to him  feck with this type of mentality he will be 50 before he learns to pitch the ball up yes age is with him for time now .. brain cells arent

/\ Even changed his sign as a lucky a charm. Took him a complete 2-3 notebooks to come up with a new sign..if he had used that time working on his length then he would had come out as a much better bowler without any luck or a new signature. Lets see how well he does under Joe Dawes.

ah..man dont remind me of tht bullshit :cantstop: tbh coach like him can actually help him a fair bit i think he coached kxip? awana was saying coach was working on his run up and keeping momentum in straight line something like that @rkt might know the details i dont rememb so he will def see problems with ishant and work on it tbh ishant is very lucky to still be in team after his crap performances... i guess his name change is working for ihm :giggle:

He has problems with getting his length right. He is just 23 now, he'll improve if given proper guidance. He has the potential, lets hope he performs well in the next series.

ISHANT is the best we have now.. For TESTS that is .. and hence he is in the side.. none of the bowlers apart from UMESH in certain spells who looks like taking wickets .. Though I agree because of his bad length he never gets those wickets .. I hope AARON & UMESH improve their consistency sooner than later

well... This guy is in stuart broad mould. Similar hieght and relies on bowling lenght for taking wickets. If stuart can turn it around why not Ishant. As a matter of fact, ishant has better speed than stuart. just needs to realise that he has to fix some issues rather than bieliving that he is unlucky.

Stuart Broad has left Ishant in the dust. Broad never had to make a turn around, he was always improving. And the biggest difference is Broad's IQ is much higher than this noodle leg Ishu, who is probably the dumbest fast bowler going around along with Sami.

Wrong. Before the India series, Broad was getting a good pasting from the Sri Lankan batsmen and he was doing the same thing which Ishant did - bowling short. His Test career was in threat after that series, so he played few county games for Somerset I think and found the perfect bowling length. It was India on the receiving side when Broad has discovered the perfect length and got the ball to move off the pitch.

Ishant can be a world class bowler' date='[b'] he has all the ingredients, once he gets things right, has got more to do with his thought process then fitness.
He has nothing except speed.
