Umesh Yadav - As brainless as ever

  • The only reason Umesh Yadav keeps finding his way back into the team is because he too is a client of Bunty Sajdeh, otherwise he would have been ditched a long time back.

23 wickets@12 in 3 Ranji knockout games may have played a small part as well but then I could be completely wrong.

Why blame Umesh? Blame the selectors for picking him for a T20 series when he has proved so many times that he is a poor T20 bowler. Kohli also needs to be blamed for picking him instead of BK in the playing 11. Don't know how Umesh keeps getting randomly selected. Selectors should have realized by now that Umesh is only good for tests in subcontinent. Someone like Rajpoot needs to be tried for ODI/T20's instead.

Why not Mavi? Why so reluctant to try a upcoming fast bowler and rinse & repeat failures.

Yesterday loss doesn't matter but what matters is continuing rehashing proven failures and not even looking at other prospects.

Or Saini. Rajpoot and Saini are must now.

Mavi is a wonderful talent and could be tried but I feel he is a bit raw atm. Let's see what he does in this IPL season. Rajpoot is ready. He has a lovely outswinger and bowls in the mid 130's but can crank it to 140+ in T20's. He is a decent death bowler too with a good yorker.

In a sense its better our younger pacers are not making debut in T20s. After the Siraj experiment failed, I am not sure if risks of playing them in T20s outweigh the positives. Better to give them a start first in ODIs (preferably Tests) where they have more overs. I hope Saini, Mavi and Rajpoot get their chances vs WI.

What worrying is Kaul was already found warming up after yday match. These selectors are so chewts , they have selected a series of garbage bowlers out of all good performing domestic bowlers.

I think that the T20Is, so far this year, are being used to test out the fringe players for the 50-over World Cup.

They have decided on 3 quicks for the WC  ( Bumrah, Shami, Bhuvi ).  Now they want to decide who the 4th pacer will be.  And it seems to be a choice between Umesh, Khaleel and Kaul. And none of these 3 are making them happy.

But the question remains ...  how will they test out 50 over skills from 20 over matches  ?  There is a big difference in approach between these 2 formats.

Why not try Saini in a couple of ODIs in this series and see where he stands.  He has decent 50-over A-team experience now.

True and that just proves the point , the team needed more ODI game time rather than these useless T20s looking the WC.Even the TM is using these T20s to check ODI prospects and give game time to WC players.Dont know which genius came up with this itinerary.
