rixxuu Posted September 22, 2012 Posted September 22, 2012 I think MSD is right there.. imagine the indian bowling line up without Zak.. there were several batismen like RD,VVS,SEHWAG,GANGULY, who could have done a reasonable job if not great as SRT but in bowling particularly in fast bowling dept Zak is the lone worriar for India since last dacade and he deserves more respect..:two_thumbs_up:

Zaheer is a pace bowler and Hogg is into his second coming after having given up on the game once. How many pace bowlers have had a successful career after 34? The way people criticize Zak is as if they have got Mcgrath's & Marshall's to replace him. All we have got are brainless quickies and other trundlers who could only dream of holding on to Test cricket as much as Zak has.

He has never been good in T20s even in IPL. Other Indian bowlers have done better than him in this format. He is their just because of his experience as a bowler. In fact, most bowlers are picked considering the same criteria, Bhajji, Balaji other examples.

We change our line of bowlers every year in LOI.

He is mainly a wicket taking bowler but in T20, I dont think he has the tricks to bowl economically like bowl yorkers consistently, bowl slower bouncers or vary pace etc. He has done well for MI on some occassions but you cant count on him like Malinga. Having said that, very few pace bowlers in T20s manage to do well, so you cant be too harsh on bowlers in this format.

"It's easier to go after a bowler when is not doing well. For me, Zaheer is the Sachin Tendulkar of the Indian bowling attack. He has been the leader of the bowling unit for a number of years now," Dhoni said during the pre-match media interaction. "He might not have been so effective in the last few matches but in those situations others need to step up. I believe it's a matter of time for him to get back to form," he added. However, Dhoni looked a little circumspect when asked whether he would remain a 'Zaheer backer' even if the bowler's bad patch is a prolonged one. "It's a difficult question to answer. Obviously, it depends on the format. For me, he is an experienced cricketer but then you have to look at the format. In this format you don't get too many matches." With a place in the Super Eights already confirmed, Dhoni indicated that there were plans to make a few changes in the playing XI for their game against England. "We are looking to make a few changes in the side. Obviously, we only name the playing XI on the day of the match. We ideally want most of our 15 members to get some game time in the middle before we get on with the Super Eights," he remarked. The skipper has looked in good touch and it was his 8-ball 19 that helped India reach close to 160 but he is still not keen on dropping Yuvraj Singh down the order. Great way to fire him up!
