That's it. Enough. Enough about the talent. Enough about how much time he has to play the ball. Enough about how he oozes class. If he does not come through with an 80+ score in the final, I say bench him for the next series. We can see he's trying, but he keeps throwing his wicket away. 4 matches, 4 new ways of throwing it away. I'd rather see Rahane or Pujara get a good 10 match run at the top of the order, I'm sure they can manage talent-filled 30s and 40s if not better.

Wah! Wah!!! after scores of 65, 52, 18, 33 in 4 matches, you want to drop him... Next up - Kohli to be dropped because he made even less runs in this tournament.

You get a good ball get out no problem but throwing it away every time after doing the hard work is as bad as getting out early.
why does it matter if he is doing well ?

He is doing a decent job. But Gavaskar was awfully pissed off at the way he got out. He pulled a direct comparison with Dhawan and came hard on Rohit. I understand. Considering the fact he is an opener after seeing off all the difficult periods is expected to do play a much longer innings. YOu have entire 50 overs at your disposal. If you are only good enough to see the shine of the ball then your place will be uncertain when you run out of form. Sunny precisely talked abuot it.

Has been one of the reasons we have done well. Playing the new ball well and putting together a 50+ stand with Dhawan everytime. Needs a big score soon though, that could spark a complete revival for him.

It wont matter if he keeps scoring like this but sooner or later a time will come where he wont score for 4-5 games. Here is a guy who has played barely 10 odis is converting every good start to a point where he has seen his team through and one who has played 80 odis has not learned a thing.

Non bowling Carl Hooper of India. :haha::haha: West Indies fans went through this- partly because they had nobody to replace Hooper and party because Hooper had this annoying habit of doing good once every 3-4 matches but throwing it away pretty much every single time.

He should play for another 10 ODIs' date=' [b']4 consecutive 50 run (with 2 100 run ) partnership...we haven't achieved it since 2007 or so.
Not sure if we have done this outside Asia ever. Kudos to Dhawan and Rohit :hatsoff:

He has done his job in this tournament. Ensure that the new ball is seen off and getting India off to good starts. Obviously he needs to keep doing that. In the finals if the opening partnership is 50 then i shall take that as a job well done and a new ball seen off.

He is just 26. A lot of people cant even make their debuts for national teams at this age. He has a lot of time still to turn it around. It has started already with ODI opening, averaging 42 right now this tourny, exceeded expectations. I think no one had given him any chance in England.

hooper was a allrounder though,i would take rohit sharma in my team if he could bowl as well as hooper.

If he gets out for a single digit score in the next innings, his average in the tournament would be in the early 30s - that's when he is supposedly having a good series.
