Why is BCCI favoring Suresh Raina so much?

Dont play him at #4 He is a lower order player.
well tell that to Dhoni but dhoni is a stubborn mule. Once he sets on something, he will keep trying Raina until he proves everyone wrong.

Technically the worst batsman. Cant play anything that tests his technique. Give Raidu a chance. He has better technique and has shown good attitude as a finisher on A tours.

Some fans here have a terrible mindset. Always want x,y or z to be dropped. He has been a match winner for India and has won many games for India and going through a bad patch. He will be back to form.

He is good at cowlashing down the order. I think we should leave him there. He can play shots in unusual areas. Good guy to have a blast in death overs even under pressure. I also hoped he would get better if he plays at the top. It was not to be. May be bad form. may be not suitable. Whatever reason with abundant of young talents coming up he better get it right soon. Between Yuvraj and Raina, Yuvraj looks the worse. Hope he proves me wrong.

kartik, rayudu, samson (i dont very much like rahane in ODIs)....then pujara, manoj tiwari, baba aparajit etc we are spoilt for choices. If I was selector, I'll first drop yuvi and retain raina for this series and SA series maybe.

Yuvraj and Raina should try batting at 6 and 7 respectively. Dhoni and Jadeja should bat at 4 and 5 respectively. That way the middle order will have some renovation.

Oh yes. Quote his past performances in the tamasha league to justify his selection in the Indian team. :cheerleader:
Typical ghoda-ghadi fan.. jumping from horse to another.. He was MOS against England in 5 Matches series earlier this.... Raina is the best team player, most agressive in pressure situation, best striker (92 Strike rate), best fielder, good part timer offie and best match winner in our Indian team.... I would pick him right after Kohli as our best ODI player..

Well on recent form he is not our best player after Kohli. He is also not the best fielder in the team. Sir Jadeja is whether you like it or not. He has no business of batting in the top 5 where good teams with fast bowlers will expose him. He can be in the team if he bats at 6 since bowlers rarely try short balls in the last overs and he can slog as much as he wants. dhoni is doing no good to him or the team by batting him at number 4.

He has to work a bit on playing against short ball and work on playing close to the body when there is some movement. Apart from that, he can play shots all around the ground, can rotate the strike well, good finisher, excellent fielder and can also chip in with a few overs. Very valuable player to have in ODIs. Average of 36 with a strike rate of 92 after 180 ODIs is an excellent record.

Everyone goes through a run of poor form now and then. He deserves to be in the LOI side to regain form. As long as BCCI keeps him away from the test side, things are fine

Hopeless against genuine pace and garbage against quality spin. Will be a huge passenger in Australian conditions. This guy has caused untold damage to Indian cricket- stemming from when he was first put in the test team as Yuvi's replacement over far more deserving candidates (Pujara, Rahane, Rohit, Kohli, Badrinath) resulting in india having no ready made test class batsmen available to aid us on difficult tours to England and Australia whilst our ageing stars were declining and Viru/Gauti were reclining. Had it not been for him we wouldn't have lost so badly in England and Australia and we would not have lost to England at home.

I can imagine what Raina will do in Australian pitches. Lol at BCCI for having him at A list of contracted players :giggle:

He has performed consistently well as a lower order batsman for the last 5 years and been a match - winner for us numerous times. Even this year he did very well for the earlier part of the year against England. He still averages 37 @ 85 this year in spite of going through this poor form last couple of months or so. He deserves to be allowed to fight his way back to form in the ODI side.
