Both Rahane and Rayudu playing...

Rahane came good today. But if Kohli falls early, Rahane, Raydud and DK can't chase big scores. Pujara can open and Sharma can drop to #5 or #6. Raydud should be replaced by Binny. Pujara, Dhawan, Kohli, Rahane, DK, Sharma, Binny, Jadeja, Ashwin, Bhuvi, Aaron, Shami,

He would be a pretty good opener. I still don't see him as a good middle order prospect.
True. Even with such belligerent innings from Kohli we took 49 overs to overhaul the total. Imagine him getting out early. That is where the real test will be.

Some part of me wanted Kohli to get out early, Just to see how these guys go on with the chase. Pretty obvious we would have lost. Ashwin-Jadeja could have possibly pulled us out but that's again a long shot.

One of these openers would have to play a big knock in that case.

OP :fail: But that's expected from this particular expurt :giggle:
Poor ****** is pissed off because his phevrate phaast bowler will most likely get dropped in the next match. :giggle: Only when Rahane scores an important innings when he isn't playing second fiddle to any of the top three can we go ahead and call this thread a fail. Rahane is still a largely unproven commodity in the middle order in one-dayers.

Resorting to name-calling because your prediction came wrong and you look like a moron. Instead of accepting you were wrong, you do this. Stay classy, that's if you are capable of that :two_thumbs_up: The second fiddle innings which was crucial to building the most important partnership of the innings is not being credited by the apex moron. What an expurt :hail:

Should be... Dhawan Pujara Kohli Rahane Sharma Karthik We are relying heavily on Kohli's fire work.. And now that he made his customary century in first game, Kohli will fail just cuz of law of averages...

Fact is, at No. 4 he's going to face a lot more difficult situations to bat in, especially when the likes of Kohli and Dhawan are back in the hut. It's then that he will have to shoulder the responsibility and prove that he also has the big game and the ability to turn it on which is required at that position. He has yet to prove that.

hmm Rahane played a good innings today. Not right to say Kohli basically helped him along. some of those shots were technically perfect and would have been 4 regardless of Kohli being there or not. But long term it remains to be seen if Rahane can be a middle order player. to his credit he does play spinners well and is a very good runner between the wickets. Would prefer to see him open. He is timing the ball extremely well and as an opener will jsut need to pick the gaps.

Rahane's tougher tests are yet to come, I dont know if he is still a no 4. he took a long time to get going yet he never had that acceleration. He has shown he can play and negotiate fast bowlers in test matches away but his odi batting especially during chases so far in his career has shown he does not have the ability to absorb pressure after early wickets and accelerate later on. it is early in his career but I dont think he is right fit at no4.

It was not a good call to play Rayudu, should have played Pujara. And on the other hand, Binny wouldn't be a bad option either. Rahane has always been in my ODI XI, he is too good not to make it count in this format. He has been persisted with and he should come good in future too :nice:

Pujara if he has to play , will have to replace Rohit or Dhawan .
