I don't give much credit to Advani but coining the term "pseudo secularism" was a masterstroke. 20 odd years later secularism has almost become a bad word. Soon it will be a cuss word.

And why is that a good thing ? Your God is better than their God ? :haha:

Secularism is to politics what spirit of the game is to cricket.......a silly term' date=' thrown around to take the moral high ground......[/quote'] Err no, secularism is what keeps western societies light years ahead of India. Secularism is the seperation of religion and politics. And unless you are just a hindu fundamentalist like Surajmal, there is no justification for mixing hindu ideology with politics.

I know what the term secular means........all I'm tying to say is that the term is bandied about in politics very much like how the Poms like to throw about the 'spirit of cricket' non-sense.......just to get the moral high ground...... Oh btw......do you consider the US to be secular? A lot of their right wing leaders claim that the Yoonited States of 'Murica is a Christian nation......

Dont take DMKs views seriously .. Even though they claim they are atheists , there are many guys from Chennai/tanjore who told me that DMK/karuna family members visit temples like others. But karuna is a big troll who regularly make fun abt hindu gods and festivals. But i dont think DMK will say anything against jesus or allah :phehehe:

The amount of influence of the church has in local/civic government is immense, they are given NPO status, tax reliefs, church goers are respected in politics esp congressmen and presidents, etc. RvW plays a very important role in the appointment of SC judges even now in USA. There no communal riots, that's all! But, race plays a big part in governance. Whites getting preferential treatment in Law is very well documented.

Scandinavians will be extinct soon if they carry on in their enlightened ways.

Well said. I am anti-halal. Its stupid to assume that a creature feeling less pain during death is less stressed at death or suffering less due to the absence of pain. If i don't wanna die and you are going to kill me anyways, isn't it making me suffer more by making me die slower ? Forget about pain, we are not going to simply sit there thinking only of the pain. An animal can be equally duressed and under extreme emotional trouble if it realizes it is dying anyways. To assume that an animal is not cognizant of it dying ( oh no ! i feel faint, lets go to sleep!) is to assume too much about animals that we simply do not know. It may be true for cows or sheep, but if you are trying to tell me that to 'halal' a chimpanzee is less barbaric than to shoot it, its basically saing its less cruel to kill people slowly than to shoot them. Thats twisted!
:two_thumbs_up: Actually I don't know abt this method until I saw a beheading video years ago. They exactly do the same to animals.

For congress or DMK, it's a moral high ground before and now, it's an irrational hatred since they have nothing to show.

Here secularism means giving preferential treatment to one particular community.

On NDTV with @BDUTT , Narayan Murthy says,he is amused at the amt of noise on secularism when a greater threat such as casteism is ignored

and when people display real secularism they are also clubbed with the 'seculars'. It is become a kind of takia kalaam for online debate points.

The reverse works as well. Any anti-"secular" voice is considered to be a torch-bearer of chaddis!
