adi B Posted September 23, 2014 Posted September 23, 2014 NEW DELHI: A teenager has been killed by a white tiger inside the Delhi zoo. The incident took place at around 1.30 this afternoon. Witnesses claim the barricade of the tiger enclosure was low and the animal killed the boy, a Class 12 student RIP. really shocking news, the eyewitnesses have said that the barricade was upto stomach high and its possible that boy could have been heckled and fell down.
Yoda-esque Posted September 23, 2014 Posted September 23, 2014 RIP. really shocking news, the eyewitnesses have said that the barricade was upto stomach high and its possible that boy could have been heckled and fell down. If true, then safety standards are appalling .
adi B Posted September 23, 2014 Author Posted September 23, 2014 an eyewitness has claimed that he shot the video of the incident
sscomp32 Posted September 23, 2014 Posted September 23, 2014 RIP. Just saw the news. The Zoo administration is just not ready to accept their fault. Eye witnesses say the boundary is too low and Zoo officials didn't help at all.
SLICKR392 Posted September 23, 2014 Posted September 23, 2014 If true' date=' then safety standards are appalling .[/quote'] Most zoos in and outside India have a barricade, and a huge pit with some protection. I have watched in TV people falling off from these barricades to those deep pit which pretty much means the end. Its quiet dangerous if some trips among the jammed crowd. RIP

mishra Posted September 23, 2014 Posted September 23, 2014 I agree tiger may have been properly barricaded but the zoo authority should try to ensure that visitors dont get into tigers enclosure intentionally or accidentally.
Lord Posted September 23, 2014 Posted September 23, 2014 http://indiatoday.intoday.in/video/white-tiger-boy-killed-by-tiger-delhi-zoo/1/384519.html photos RIP
Debutant Posted September 23, 2014 Posted September 23, 2014 Sources said the boy climbed the fence of the enclosure, slipped and fell in, and the tiger pounced on him. If that quoted part is correct, then I don't see how anybody can be held responsible apart from the boy's stupidity.
beetle Posted September 23, 2014 Posted September 23, 2014 Really sad. Chilling pics. According to eyewitness....the tiger just stood close for sometime till some one hit the tiger with a stone.(probably to shoo it away) when it got aggressive and caught him my the neck and dragged him away.
beetle Posted September 23, 2014 Posted September 23, 2014 According to Zoo officials...he was warned twice...he climbed over the wire fence to reach the cement fence. He did not pay heed to the alarm that was set off.Poor stupid guy.
G_B_ Posted September 23, 2014 Posted September 23, 2014 I have seen such dumb behavior in the mumbai locals as well. plenty of empty seats. some guys love leaning off the edge and falling off moving trains. Indian society has a safety problem. Seen this so many places.
vvvslaxman Posted September 23, 2014 Posted September 23, 2014 Poor guy. Accident or intentional the few moments with tiger alone is terrifying even to think about. RIP.
coffee_rules Posted September 23, 2014 Posted September 23, 2014 Lot of locals don't pay heed to even the minimal safety standards. On a recent India visit, I heard more about the AP college students who were swept from the dam release in HP. They were warned as well by the locals, but these guys wanted to take one stupid picture to post on FB/YT or some such stupid site. The crave for attention in SM is getting out of control.
hhunaeh Posted September 23, 2014 Posted September 23, 2014 he was drunk and jumped in is what i read. Barriers to keep stupid people out is needed as much as barriers to keep wild animals in.
