putrevus
He is not natural at slips , as he lacks anticipation and soft hands.Nothing wrong in that but he is compounding the mistake by insisting on fielding at slips.India needs some solid slips catchers or you can kiss goodbye any hopes of winning in SA. Jimmy Cliff
56th Test - Bengaluru- Mar 4-7, 2017 - drops Smith on 12 (2nd slip) - goes on to score 28 - Match won Quote 10.3 Yadav to Smith, FOUR, dropped by Kohli at slip. He drops quite a few there. Although this is a really difficult chance. Kohli is wide at slip. Smith is squared up for an edge that would be a regulation chance at first slip. Kohli dives to his left, gets a hand to it, but fails to latch on Link to comment
Jimmy Cliff
58th Test - Galle- Jul 26-29, 2017 - drops Tharanga on 10 (2nd slip) - goes on to score 10 (!) - Match won Quote 2.3 Mohammed Shami to Tharanga, no run, Dropped by Kohli at second slip! Straightforward chance. This is an excellent ball. Good length, angled in on off, forces Tharanga to play. Then cunningly straightens a touch and grazes the outside edge. Kohli goes with both hands and shells it. Pops in and pops out. He vents out his frustration by slapping the ground Link to comment
Jimmy Cliff
59th Test - Colombo- Aug 3-6, 2017 - drops Matthews on 0 (gully) - goes on to score 26 - Match won Quote 24.5 Jadeja to Mathews, no run, dropped at gully by Kohli, diving to his left. This line of attack, with this purchace off this pitch, always threatens the outside edge. Mathews is squared up as he looks to defend into the on side, the leading edge comes out, teases the Indian captain who shells it Edited August 6, 2017 by Jimmy Cliff Link to comment
Jimmy Cliff
59th Test - Colombo- Aug 3-6, 2017 - drops Perera on 0 (gully) - goes on to score 4 - Match won Quote 97.6 Jadeja to Perera, FOUR, dropped - only because he got a hand to it. Really tough chance, and it ends up on the conscience of Kohli at gully. Jadeja lures the batsman into an on-the-up drive and Perera obliges. The ball comes off the edge, has decent pace behind it, he he has very little time to react. Gets one hand to it, but the problem perhaps is his first step, moving to his right. Jimmy Cliff
So that's at least 27 catches dropped in 59 Tests . Could well be more as this thread mentions he dropped 1 in the one off Test vs the Banglas and 2 in the Test series vs Australia at home earlier this year. I could only find the commentary for 1 drop from those 4 Tests. Edited August 6, 2017 by Jimmy Cliff Link to comment

Trichromatic
Quote 9.3 Ishant to Mathews, no run, dropped by Kohli! Dhawan's no longer at second slip after that previous drop, but his replacement - the Indian skipper - has put down a sitter too. Back of length, nipping away to take a genuine edge, goes at a comfortable height to the left of Kohli, but it pops out of his palms. He's not known to have the safest hands there, but this should definitely have been taken Link to comment
Shunya
Kohli needs to give up slip cordon. Overconfidence taking over now. He is not able to accept it that he is bad at slip fielding. Link to comment
Trichromatic
Kohli has been atrocious in the field and too arrogant to stay out of slips. Kumble tried to sort out these issues and was booted away. Kohli is yet to win a match in Aus, SA, NZ, Eng, but he has already lost more in single handedly. Gollum 1 Link to comment

And he is such a poor role model for others when it comes to fielding. When you see your hard working captain dropping dollies and commies going on about how they are one of the best fielding units in world, others will also take catching lightly. Link to comment
putrevus
There is no excuse for amount of catches he is dropping, these drops will kill any chances India will have in SA. Link to comment
