Just like results, Catches do not matter.
 

These days only how many tattoos can one fit in an arm, and talking about process without explaining the process itself matter.

In the Adelaide oval test win one of the big turning point was Dravid's catch not just his 233 & 72*. India was unable to break the partnership between Damien Martyn & Steve waugh. Ganguly desperately tried Sachin. He pitched a ball wide outside the off and turned further caught the edge of Martyn's bat. Ball just flew off the edge. He plucked out of thin air. Great catch.

Those were more like half chances ...the current side can't even take straightforward catches in slip, even in England series we dropped probably on average 2-3 catches per test. Ironically Virat  held more catches lately than any other Indian slip fielder, but he was never a natural slip fielder to begin with. Rahane started well but has been pathetic lately and that leaves only Pujara and Rohit. Both can be good on some days but not consistent. Not sure if K L Rahul would be in slip cordon during Dravid era. I think its a problem with all the international teams but is more pronounced in our team. T20 and ODI improved the fielding overall but slip catching level has gone down in last 10-15 years ago

Yes. He's a great athlete and good with his direct hits too but has butter fingers. Not a reliable catcher. Shouldn't be in the slips. Will do fine elsewhere.

Gill is a very safe slip catcher. Unfortunately has to miss out due to seniority bs

His drop of Markram really cost us the SA game in the World T20. Even at his best, he is only decent.

He was always too anxious as a catcher and that is one of main reasons why he is very bad in catching.

This has to be a statistics that already we should already  be using while judging the output of players in their career. Kohli is mega version of Parthiv patel. There was an article titled "costly infatuation" on parthiv patel of how much his drops cost India overall. about 23 drops cost India 650 odd runs. We need to come up with a raw data on how much his drops cost India. What are the effects of it. His drop definitely cost us a Test win.
