Harsh Thakor Posted May 20, 2015 Posted May 20, 2015 I back Kings XI Bangalore to win this edition of I.P.L.No team has such flamboyant a trio as that of Chris Gayle,Virat Kohli and A.B.Devilliers.Gayle and Devilliers destroy attacks like a bomber raiding an airbase.In addition they have in Mitchel Starc ,the most lethal pace bowler in the world who can turn a spark into a priarie fire or blow off all the candles on a cake in one go.Never have Bangalore played as attacking cricket before in I.P.L.,apart from 2009.This team knows how to bear pressure and hit the final nails in the coffin in the end.In the past it was a case of so near but so far.In this edition they have ressurected themselves from difficult positions and displayed great guts and temperament.Their cases against Kolkata and Sunrisers Hyderabad are testimony to this.They also thumped Mumbai on their very home ground itself which was remarkable.Infact just before the second half of the tournament began Bangalore were my favourites.I back them to beat Rajasthan Royal,Chennai and finally Mumbai.Chenna has not been at it's best and often lost from wining position sthis time.In run chassis they have lost their old flair.They also lost games from winning junctures when giving targets against Mumbai and Kolkata earlier.The biggest disappointment to me was Kolkata Knightriders..They should have beaten both Mumbai and Rajasthan in their last 2 games but lack of organization and temperament cost them a berth in the final stage.For a team with such remarkable talent it should have won both those games.It simply lacked the knockout punch which it had before and just could not strike the final nails in the coffin..The fall of Yusuf Pathan sealed their fate in both games.There could have been few better illustrations of how much talent needs to combine organization and strategy.The match-winning instinct was lacking.The Kolkata of previous years would have attained those targets. There has never been an I.P.L.which was so intense in competion but I still feel that the standard of cricket has come down.Earlier there were many more winning chases of over 200 or 180.In this edition the best teams often failed in runchases.There was hardly a truly best team but because Chennai was below their best.If talent is the winner then I mantain Kings XI Bangalore are my favourites.
