Binny's selection - Where dreams can come true?

Stuart Binny gives hope to every Indian kid that he too can represent India. Imagine being this poor and average at cricket and yet still be selected into the national test team is testament that anything can happen, a living Slumdog Millionaire story-line (minus the part of being poor) that impossible dreams can come true.

To put into perspective just how rubbish Binny is, he would not get a game for Australia, South Africa, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, NZ or England.

Binny cant bat or bowl. I mean he bowled 3 overs yesterday, that has been his total contribution as a "front line" bowler on his home domestic ground and he failed to do anything of note. I am also confident he will score less than 25 runs with the bat too, which further emphasises my point that any kid out there who wants to play for India should be inspired by this. Bowl only 3 overs, score less than 25 runs and still you can play for India.

His selection is embarrassing. Sure the conditions may have justified a seam bowler, but Binny is not the Test cricketer I would have selected in the team let alone even in the squad. The player is so bad that he has not even opened the bowling for his own Club team in Bangalore.

Surely Roger must have some influence for Stuart to be continued to be selected?

People need to stop the Roger nepotism angle. Its tiring.

Yes, he was selector but there hasn't been a single incident about Roger doing something for Binny unlike Srikanth who got Anirudha a game in List A or something.

Plus Roger is gone from the selection committee and Binny was still chosen to in the playing XI in this test.

The constant doubts about Binny need to stop.

Rewind the clock and see. Many called Ashwin and Vijay as CSK quota players and only playing due to Dhoni's and Srini's nepotism. :cantstop:

Fact is that Indian captains (whether we like it or not) think Binny is needed. I disagree with that completely but won't call him a nepotism pick.

u knw of any suggest

We all knw who r in domestic

Rishi dhawan- his batting is gud as any tailenders

Hardik pandya- burst on scene a yr. imp he plays domestic which he is doing now. Soon he shud get a chance def a better option thn binny in future. but we r in present

Irfan pathan- injured as always

Abhishek nayar, laxmi ratan , rajat bhatia- no way

Who else is left the so called seaming all rounder

N about binny

HE saved a test in eng

Did well in one game he got in cb series

6-4 against bang, ok its bang n it was seaming a lot yet its no mean achievment

Did well against SL.

He did well in Zimb

So honestly he has done more than decent wen given a chance,

Its easy to whine

No captain plays to loose. If they show faith in some players there is always a reason

Stuart got selected purely because of his father, to think otherwise is simply being ignorant.

Stuart is a below average batsmen, bowler and allrounder. I still dont know what function he serves. You might as well have had Rohit bowl 3 overs at the start and strengthen the batting lineup instead, im sure he would have obliged if it meant selection.

I lol so much when he took a catch as if he achieved something great in Indian cricket. I would settle for a 3 wicket haul or a 50 batting, neither of which I think he is capable of against the top 5 nations in the world.

One good batting all rounder, ( I am hoping Hardik Pandya ), and the Stuart Binnys of the world will be history.

Lack of a quality batting all rounders, who is a seamer too, has contributed somewhat to Stuart Binny's inclusion...although Rishi Dhawan should have got a look in first. I don't think he is ideal but is in no way clearly worse than Binny and has a better FC record.

If this was Binny's first trial in international cricket I would be fine for the BCCI roll the dice and give him a chance. But Stuart has consistently demonstrated that he is around poor to average as cricketer, cant bat, cant bowl and can field a bit. Wow, every Indian can do that.

I think Stuart Binny's stock rose in the eyes of Dhoni , Kohli etc. when he played a fighting  innings of 78 in England in adverse conditions against good bowlers in his debut test.

Captains always value players who can play fighting innings in test matches overseas.

His lack of consistency after that has been sub-par of course...with only one more innings of substance ...a 49 in Sri Lanka...after that in the 5 and a half tests he has played so far.

But his bowling is so substandard though, you might as well have had Rohit batting instead with him bowling his spinners to add a 5th bowler. I would rate Rohit a better "allrounder" than Binny, which puts things in perspective, neither bowl well enough to make a difference. At least with Rohit his batting is leaps and bounds ahead of Binny.

I understand what you are saying, but surely Binny has been given enough chances, enough is enough. Binny is not even an average cricketer. He is below average and an embarrassment to Indian cricket.

Binny's selection in this game could end up costing us the match given likely from here we will need quality bowlers to take all 10 SA wickets in their 2nd innings. Mishra at least can always count on chipping in with 1 or 2. Im not confident of Binny holding down one end let alone taking a wicket. What he bowled in the first innings was a result of the batsmen being nervous about attacking our bowlers on day 1 morning 1 of the 2nd test. Not the quality of Binnys bowling.

Rishi Dhawan averages 41 in FC, more than Binny, so you cant say he bats as well as tailenders.

have you seen him bat ? Hes not more than a no9 .What ever the stats suggest he's not a better bat than Binny

Binny was selected only because of Roger Binny. On basis of perfomance of last 3 year as bowling allrounder Rishi Dhawan was far better than him.Whenever he has got chance in A games he has shown his capabilities. He deserved to be in squad ahead of Binny.Binny for support bowler for Karnataka after Vinay,Mithun,Arvind ,Gopal etc, whereas Rishi is the main strike bowler for HP.Rishi has experience of bowling lots of overs in Ranji & has knack of taking 5 fers. For last 3 4years he has shouldered the responsiblity of both batting & bowling of weak HP side.

^ Yea the qn is you have Bhuvi in the squad. Bhuvi is not a great player, but he is a better bowler (and a regular bowler who can bowl more number of overs consistently) than Panni, and batting all same bunnies. So, play Bhuvi instead of Binny.

Bhuvi vs Panni - Bhuvi wins?
