adi B Posted January 12, 2016 Posted January 12, 2016 Time to drop dhawan and open with rahane.play gurkeerat instead of dhawan and rishi in place of jadeja/ashwin Rasgulla 1
putrevus Posted January 12, 2016 Posted January 12, 2016 Why is Dhoni's SR so low, for guy who needs to finish innings he strike rate is awful.Steve Smith this guy has turned into Bradman or what, I have not seen even Tendulkar in his pomp score so regularly with such ease almost everywhere.
sandeep Posted January 12, 2016 Posted January 12, 2016 Selfish? Don't think so. But game plan definitely needs a review. India was a top tier batting side for the last 10-15 years, because we mastered the art of ODI batting and put up scores of around 300 with metronomic regularity, we still do. Post T20, Totals in the low 300s don't generate enough scoreboard pressure against top batting teams such as Aus, SA or even India. Successful ODI juggernaut batting line-ups have a couple of thumpers at the top and bottom end of the batting lineup - When Dhawan is in form, he can and does play that role at the top. This, and the fact that he's left-handed is the reason, why he gets a (slightly) longer rope inspite of his hackish failures. Post-Sehwag and in the absence of Raina and Yuvi, we are clearly lacking that thumper in the middle-order who can just go for broke, given a platform - a la AB, or a Maxwell. Its not easy to find such players. If you look at the IPL, the young Indian bats coming through are also in the classical mould - the Shreyas Iyers, Manish Pandeys etc. Almost all IPL teams have out-sourced this job to caribbean, saffer or aussie players, with Indian bats forming the top order. It wouldn't be surprising if some fans start clamoring to bring back Yusuf Pathan for the T20 WC at this rate. Let's not beat up our team too much, most team would pay dearly to have batsmen of the calibre and ability of Rahane, Kohli, Rohit etc. Fact is, we are still in the top 3 batting teams of the world. Only teams ahead of us (slightly) are the Aussies, and due to ABDV, the saffers.
putrevus Posted January 12, 2016 Posted January 12, 2016 If jadeja is needed to finish the innings when only three wickets have fallen then Indian batting has some serious issues.Other than top three there is no batting in this line up. Dhoni and Rahane are just accumulators. They need some serious thumpers who can do both bat for 20 overs or thump a quick 50.I don't see how this team can win T20 world cup. Ankit_sharma03 1
Ankit_sharma03 Posted January 12, 2016 Posted January 12, 2016 Not selfishBut considering the lower order we have .Rahane next in line, dhoni well nt at all his best n pandey nt sureSo best option for them was to bat out Indian Odi side Needs some srs middle order fire power- Samson, pandya, hooda, sarfraz , iyerRaina if improves his game is a srs package( i knw m hoping a lot with him) express bowling 1
Adi_91 Posted January 12, 2016 Posted January 12, 2016 I thought Kohli was a bit slow in the middle, but he did accelerate in the end as he was approaching his century. So, it doesn't look like it was selfish batting. And considering the horrendous tour we had last year, even our batsmen would have taken 280, let along 300 against the Aussies.
cowboysfan Posted January 12, 2016 Posted January 12, 2016 I dont blame them, its their first match here and they know they got nothing coming after them who can score faster than them,i would like to drop Jaddu and play the all rounder.
vvvslaxman Posted January 13, 2016 Posted January 13, 2016 Their line up is too strong on these roads .may be 20 short. Doubt that would have changed the outcome.
Adi_91 Posted January 13, 2016 Posted January 13, 2016 Their line up is too strong on these roads .may be 20 short. Doubt that would have changed the outcome. We needed 350. WIth one guy scoring 171, I am perplexed as to how we did not get past 330-340 with ease. Maybe the acceleration was too late.

Maybe the acceleration was too late. They would have never conceded 309 if they had stuck to good length instead of far too many over pitched deliveries. India virtually scored mostly against half vollies. Moment ball was pitched a wee bit short without being overly short they were not able to attack freely. This was the pattern througout the innings.
Lannister Posted January 13, 2016 Posted January 13, 2016 Why is it that our batsmen always have to take the blame? The fact is our kaptaan messed up with his team selection is the reason we've lost the match. Even Kohli looked more effective than the 2 spinners tells you the sorry state of our team management.

That's an excellent observation. I think the Aussies cleverly stopped India from running away even though wickets were not coming.
tweaker Posted January 13, 2016 Posted January 13, 2016 I think Virat & Rohit had done a good job.But instead of Dhoni, Pandey had come to bat,It could have been possible we could had another result
kosingh Posted January 16, 2016 Posted January 16, 2016 The 1st ODI was forgivable. But now after they approached the second game exactly the same way, a case can be made that the batting is selfish. Some of the batsman are doing enough to make their own resume look good, but they're not always responding to the role that the situation calls for- team needs are becoming secondary.

We were very much on course to score 350 before Kohli got run out. They all scored quickly in 2nd game than the first. Rohit also brought his 100 up quicker than the 2nd game. Rohit getting run out further breaks to scoring. sandeep 1

In the first game Kohli got his 50 of 61 balls. In the second game he got his 50 of 60 balls. In the first game Rohit got his 50 of 63 balls. In the second game he got his 50 of 61 balls. In the first game Rohit got his 100 of 123 balls. In the second he got his 100 of 112 balls. OK some improvement there, but still, Australia would happy to have India score at a run a ball. I can understand that Rohit wants to play the role of sheet anchor, but so does everyone else in this XI. Edited January 16, 2016 by kosingh

Dhoni is finished these days. Pandey a rookiee then Jadeja. We do not have the depth. You cannot compare to Aussie batting line. THey had Hastings and Faulkner at 7 and 8.

The answer is to play Iyer, Pandya and maybe Hooda or Gurkeerat in place ofShikhar, Jadeja and Pandey
express bowling Posted January 16, 2016 Posted January 16, 2016 Poor pandey only got 1 game why are we judging him over that ?We are looking for big hitters at the lower-middle order ...when I saw him last , Pandey could score fast but was not the kind of batsman who could come in and hit sixes from the word go.Pandya, Iyer and Hooda can do that.
