Shivaji bhonsle Posted January 12, 2016 Posted January 12, 2016 Kohli at the final overs was definitely playing for a century. I don't understand what Rohit was trying to do after getting a century and you have 8 wickets in your hand.
nevada Posted January 12, 2016 Posted January 12, 2016 I wouldn't call it selfish but it seems like over cautious batting. They failed to change to a higher gear.
puneet28 Posted January 12, 2016 Posted January 12, 2016 They were cautious. We have seen numerous times in past when teams try to accelerate around 35 overs and the collapse. We even have failed to play full overs on number of times. express bowling 1
bowl_out Posted January 12, 2016 Posted January 12, 2016 Still got to 309... Maybe 10-15 runs short... The acceleration started a little late, but I wouldn't call it selfish... Just extra cautious

We even have failed to play full overs on number of times.I agree. It seems that our strategy is keeping wickets in hand till 45th over and then go berserk. Even in the WC we had the same strategy
Rightarmfast Posted January 12, 2016 Posted January 12, 2016 seems like we were 50 runs short. Seems like we were 2 spinners extra :)
Lannister Posted January 12, 2016 Posted January 12, 2016 Our batsmen are just confused what score they need to make in order to win
vishalvirsingh Posted January 12, 2016 Posted January 12, 2016 Nobody is giving an update about ishant
Bigg Brother Posted January 12, 2016 Posted January 12, 2016 It was all due to worry about lower order's effectiveness.Lesser the said about Dhoni is better(Hoping for his retirement after t20 wc),Rahane would be walking wicket, should be unsure about Pandey. So they thought not to be too optimistic and carry the momentum and didnt accelerate.Only solution is Rahane moving at opening slot and Raina moving to 4 or 5(out of form but still 100 times better than Dhawan)
express bowling Posted January 12, 2016 Posted January 12, 2016 I feel that our batters did not correctly understand what score was needed to win in WACA today. They thought that 300 was a good score.Even Laxman was saying after the match that 280 was the par score here. The par score for our team overseas is actually much more than normal , especially against strong sides, because of our sub-par bowling there. kosingh 1
WeStMiDz Posted January 12, 2016 Posted January 12, 2016 (edited) I don't post here often but this frustrating batting display has forced me to. I don't think the players are to blame here, this was a clear team strategy 'Get to 300 and we will win' is what Ravi Shastri and co were almost certainly saying. This sort of formulaic batting approach is what England used to do where they would plod their way to 250 in a 300 era irrespective of opposition, conditions, match situation. Now we are in a 350+ era and its India who have become the new England. I have no doubt that, given how mediocre the Aussie attack was today i.e. every single bowler was targetable, England, Australia and NZ all would have scored well in excess of 350 against that attack. We seriously need to evaluate our approach particularly between overs 20-40 because other teams are leaving us behind. Edited January 12, 2016 by WeStMiDz express bowling and Mosher 2
CG Posted January 12, 2016 Posted January 12, 2016 310 with new rules is not a bad score. But you can understand top order taking less risks as we lack power in the lower order. adi B 1
adi B Posted January 12, 2016 Posted January 12, 2016 Nothing selfish at all, they were just over cautious because both of them knew had the partnership been broken midway through the 30 over mark ,the run rate would have further dipped down with rahane, dhoni to come .india are not a strong batting line up as they once were and too many collapse occur nowadays.that being said I believe Australia are too strong at home and have the wood over india, give this target to any other team in the world and india would have won today Bigg Brother and express bowling 2
kosingh Posted January 12, 2016 Posted January 12, 2016 They'll probably approach the remaining games differently. But they probably misread the conditions just a little bit (and had too much faith in their bowlers). Seemed like they believed that 280-285 was a par score here, and proceeded accordingly. Aussies know these conditions better, of course. express bowling 1
Ujas1955 Posted January 12, 2016 Posted January 12, 2016 Australia doctored all 5 grounds in the series, Local in Australia blame Indians to throws game today because bailey was out on 0But India not ask 3rd umpiresAustralian call us Dum ASSEven if India not follows DRS ,( if MSD appeal 3rd umpires could give BAILEY out)But India not appeal.even India could easily posts 345 on such wicket.but indo. Played to many dot ball and failed to take singles more oftenly.Pandey can do that, he should bat at before rahane in Brisbane.
fineleg Posted January 12, 2016 Posted January 12, 2016 (edited) Cannot have Shikhar Dhawan, Rahane in batting lineup. Having those two means, we dont have two batsmen in ODIs (Tests ofcourse Rahane is good), and Pandey is rookie so our if 2-3 top order wickets fall, there is an imminent collapse and slowdown of run-rate. And Jadeja, Ashwin and Dhoni all unreliable (battingwise) in away matches these days. Edited January 12, 2016 by fineleg

That being said, our bowling is mediocre and only 450-500 can be considered "safe".
