Asim Posted August 22, 2016 Posted August 22, 2016 Pakistan have risen to No. 1 in the ICC's Test rankings for the first time. They took the top position from India, following India's washed out Test against West Indies in Trinidad. ... ... Their rise to No. 1 was built on the back of a run of unbeaten Test series since August 2014, when they were down at No. 6. Apart from the successes against England, they had also beaten Sri Lanka 2-1 in Sri Lanka, Bangladesh 1-0 in Bangladesh, and whitewashed Australia 2-0 in the UAE. Against New Zealand in the UAE in November 2014, the series during which Phillip Hughes died in Sydney, they had drawn 1-1. http://www.espncricinfo.com/ci-icc/content/story/1049137.html Misbah, tweaker and Finer 3
sandeep Posted August 22, 2016 Posted August 22, 2016 Good for them. Well earned Series draw in England gets them there. In hindsight how important is that drawn test in the UAE with the go-slow and bad light? Asim 1
Bigg Brother Posted August 22, 2016 Posted August 22, 2016 Congrats..From now on your every single defeat would question credibility of your No.1 ranking..

KeyboardWarrior Posted August 22, 2016 Posted August 22, 2016 “For us, the number-one ranking is not a destination but part of a journey" : Misbah-ul-Haq Quote “For us, the number-one ranking is not a destination but part of a journey. Our long-term objective and strategy is to remain competitive, continue to challenge the top sides with good cricket and once again become the most followed side like the Pakistan teams of yesteryears. If we can achieve these on a consistent basis, then I am sure there will more laurels like this down the line.” http://www.icc-cricket.com/news/2016/media-releases/95841/pakistan-achieves-number-one-test-ranking-for-the-first-time Asim and Finer 2

Zero_Unit Posted August 23, 2016 Posted August 23, 2016 Great stuffs! Good going Pakistan World needs a strong Pak Cricket team ... i for one still can't understand how a team is ranked #1 in test cricket and ranked so low in ODI. You guys have the players to definitely back it up ... poor management at it's best!
Asim Posted August 23, 2016 Author Posted August 23, 2016 Cricket Australia chief executive James Sutherland has congratulated Pakistan on their rise to the top of world cricket, which has come despite them being unable to play matches on home soil for more than six years. "I'd just like to acknowledge that effort of Pakistan being the No.1 ranked team for the first time in Test cricket," Sutherland said. "It's quite a remarkable effort and very significant in the context of them not being able to play matches at home." "And on behalf of everyone in Australian cricket, I say congratulations to Pakistan." KeyboardWarrior 1
TheWall Posted August 23, 2016 Posted August 23, 2016 Misbah is the main reason for this no.1 ranking KeyboardWarrior and Asim 2
