Trichromatic Posted October 9, 2016 Posted October 9, 2016 Quote Ravindra Jadeja, while making 17 off 27 balls, ran down the middle of the pitch repeatedly, umpire Bruce Oxenford pulled him up and awarded penalty runs to New Zealand's total. The ICC, later, fined Jadeja 50% of his match fees saying "he infringed the protected area for the fourth time and damaged it." Per a revision of the code of conduct, Jadeja has also been slapped with three demerit points. If he receives one more demerit point, within a two-year time frame, he could be suspended from one Test, or two ODIs or two T20Is, whichever comes first. http://www.espncricinfo.com/india-v-new-zealand-2016-17/content/story/1061063.html

bowl_out Posted October 9, 2016 Posted October 9, 2016 Any videos to show how blatant the running was? This is not the first time he is doing this? He was warned twice in the previous match too, while bowling.
Zero_Unit Posted October 9, 2016 Posted October 9, 2016 wtf is a demerit point? since when did they implement that?
Tibarn Posted October 9, 2016 Posted October 9, 2016 If that was intentional, really poor from Jadeja. The umpires warned Kohli earlier when he did that, so what exactly was Jadeja thinking.

Fair enough, I stopped watching the match after Kohli and Rahane got out, so I didn't really see Jadeja bat. I wonder why they fined him then? They gave Kohli a warning, so does Jadeja not deserve one as well, especially with a hefty fine attached to the punishment that followed.

He did get a warning tweaker 1
MCcricket Posted October 10, 2016 Posted October 10, 2016 Jadeja was running straight down the pitch like a school kid n he was Warner prior, would this happen to a white player m not sure, but was he guilty yes, intentional don't think express bowling and tweaker 2
sandeep Posted October 10, 2016 Posted October 10, 2016 Haven't seen it on TV, but penalizing a player means Umpire was pretty sure that it was intentional. Foolish of Jadeja to do it, because he is a lynchpin bowler for us, and getting a ban in a crucial test match vs England etc would be really bad for the team.
Sachinism Posted October 10, 2016 Posted October 10, 2016 WTF is Vijay thinking after the Jadeja incident. Idiots
MCcricket Posted October 10, 2016 Posted October 10, 2016 It was a bit harsh demerit point given plus 50% match fee, hope Indians are not doing it knowingly and if unknowingly then is stupid
fineleg Posted October 10, 2016 Posted October 10, 2016 Indian players playing like they dont know basic rules!! M. Vijay come on!!
putrevus Posted October 10, 2016 Posted October 10, 2016 Are they doing it willingly, if that is the case then they deserve all the punishment.
