I know they cause noise pollution and is a nuisance. But the way they are spreading the message, it makes one feel guilty for celebrating a festival. Some of the methods they use: - In School, kids are told not to burn money through firecrackers. Kids are made to feel bad if they burn a sparkler. - Some NGOs are posting dogs/pets pictures and are making proxy requests from Dogs to celebrate Diwali in a pet-friendly way. Yes, apparently, we shouldn't be celebrating Diwali because a dog gets scared. Eco Friendly Festivals - Why are people getting sucked into this? I am going to fire a few crackers, sparklers and have fun the old fashioned way. No atom bombs. rockets, but I will not shame myself for burning a small firecracker. Give gifts to friends/family/people who work for you like drivers, security guards, bais etc..., play cards and eat some sweets. Happy Diwali! to all of you! And the bakra qurbaani was practised since pre-islamic era of arabia. Not that I have anything against people having good non veg food, but it should not be associated with religion. gattaca 1
Cricketics Posted October 29, 2016 Posted October 29, 2016 I never understand this special love of some people of protecting a particular animal such as dog or as in this case save the environment etc. They don't think the way I or most Vegetarians would do. WE find it absolutely funny that same people who go on to eat chicken, beef, pork etc for which millions of animals are slaughtered daily, now all of a sudden care so much about dog getting disturbed by the noise of the firecrackers or few animals being killed here and there. I am all for protecting all animals and including those campaigns where they ask to protect dogs or other animals which are getting wiped away form this planet, but come on, all meat eaters should first practice the same. coffee_rules 1
