velu Posted October 29, 2016 Posted October 29, 2016 No surprises here , Kohli rules the roost: And out of form and useless captain cool MSD is 4th highest run scorer well ahead of Rahane and Hitman Rohit. Bonus Stat: MSD is the man who hit max number of sixes. [ I am sure @maniac will find the other statistics soon ] Austin 3:!6, Rasgulla, Tibarn and 1 other 4

CSK players connection is totally invalid .. most people are bothered abt the inclusion of ishu n rohit ( and to some extent jaddu but he deserved it ).. these two players were never related to csk at any point of time
mishra Posted October 31, 2016 Posted October 31, 2016 ^ Cricket Team is not a 10 open places for selection but individuals. There is generally 2+ fast bowler space , 2 opener space, 1+ spinner space, 3 middle order space. List is very long for players who played for CSK getting chance in Indian test odi/team. It is probably down to money CSK used to get from Corporate sponsorship in return to minimum number of representation per calendar year in Indian team. Dhoni must have been under tremendous pressure to meet that criteria. Same was valid for Jaddu and Ishant. They must have got some big deal. I believe Mumbai Mafia still wants Rohit to represent Indian team hence he is still in playing 11. IMO, Dhoni greatly underestimated importance of overseas conditions and test matches while accommodating various BCCI , CSK corporate sponsorship deals. That caused his downfall. Dhoni seems to have learned these lessons and hopefully passed it on to Kohli too. No matter how good a player you are, if you select more than one baggage per team match, Team will not win a overseas test series or ICC tourney
maniac Posted October 31, 2016 Posted October 31, 2016 Bonus stat is wrong...Rohit and MSD have equal amount of 6's...usually when 2 batsmen have let us say batting on the same score, the one with the higher S/R is considered as higher scorer. Rohit has a higher 6's per runs scored than MSD and also an overall better S/R...so Rohit again gets the distinction of most 6's in the series wow records keep tumbling Also Rohit has higher % of batting when the ball is new and shiny especially in the first 7 overs...which automatically bumps him ahead of MSD.....another star performance

No matter how good a player you are, if you select more than one baggage per team match, Team will not win a overseas test series or ICC tourney It is wrong and insulting to call people like Ashwin, Murali Vijay being in the team for the wrong reasons. They both are world class players and deserved to be in the X1 with or without CSK. Even Jadeja who was ridiculed a lot and backed by Dhoni is India's second best spinner right now and I think this CSK thing has been brought here too often. I don't think it is entirely right. We have a world number 1 spinner and India's best test opener currently from CSK. You are saying they should not have been picked or backed by Dhoni? Also lets look at overseas thing, Only Vijay and Ashwin played from CSK in overseas test matches. In ODI's possibly Mohit Sharma from CSK played. Vijay was our best batsman overseas behind only Rahane and V Kohli and Ashwin was our best bowler behind Umesh/Shami in the world cup. Jadeja did well in SA and England in the chances he got. Not sure whom you want to pick instead. The downfall of Dhoni was not due to CSK, it is because of our batting legends all flopping at the same time and possibly the negative captaincy by Dhoni himself. CSK and their players have nothing to do with India's failures overseas. It does not even make sense. Edited November 1, 2016 by cricketpitch velu 1

Remove that innings from the list, Dhoni scored 112 runs in four completed innings after facing 179 balls. That amounts to SR of 62.57 and an average of 28. I have always observed you to be a very informed and balanced posted here. Can you by any means justify that strike rate in this era of ODI cricket. I know MSD gets lot of unnecessary flak in this forum for some unfathomable reasons but the point Laloo makes is 100 % right. Let us not sweep it under the carpet and realize that Dhoni should improve his batting for us to be really competitive in CL 2017!!! Edited November 1, 2016 by sarcastic

Dhoni in the past used to say about Rahane that he is someone that can't get scoring right away and that puts pressure on the other batsmen. Now, Dhoni is doing exactly what he was criticizing in the past. He is bringing pressure on the whole team with his slow scoring. express bowling 1

Dhoni himself agrees that his power-game and ability to rotate strike has gone down. Question is...what does he intend to do about it ? Also, why are the selectors not trying to develop back-ups for him, keeping WC 19 in mind ? Kedar Jadhav is perhaps the one they are trying but even he will be in his mid-30s during WC 19. Presence of great foresight is not one of the selectors' strong points.
