ISLAMABAD: Pakistan on Monday said at least seven of its soldiers were killed in "unprovoked" firing by Indian troops across the LoC following which Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif asserted that the country is "fully capable" of defending its territory against "any aggression".

Seven Pakistani soldiers were killed at the LoC in the Bhimber sector in an alleged ceasefire violation by Indian troops late last night, according to a statement by the army.

Pakistani troops responded to "unprovoked" Indian firing and targeted Indian posts "effectively", it said.

Sharif expressed grief over the loss of lives in the "latest violation of Line of Control (LoC) by the Indian forces" and said "it is extremely unfortunate that Indian forces have continuously violated ceasefire agreement at the LoC in the recent days", Press Information Department Pakistan said.

 

 

"We are fully capable of defending our soil against any aggression," it quoted Sharif as saying.
 

 

 

The Prime Minister also claimed that the Indian forces have resorted to escalating tension on the LoC only to "uselessly divert" the world's attention from the "grave human rights situation" in Kashmir.
 

 

 

So far, mostly civilian have been killed in the firing on Pakistani side of the LoC.
 

 

 


Pakistan Foreign Office last week said that the civilian death toll from alleged Indian shelling has risen to at least 25 in the past few weeks.

Many Pak soldiers, who have either been assisting terrorists or firing on LoC, have been killed by BSF. So Pak is coming out of denial to accept this?

soldiers deserve soldiers. RIP to them. Also happy 72 virgins to terrorist scum who would have got killed as well. It is pretty difficult to distinguish between these two when it is pak, but we have to.

They are trying to play victim. Senile Sartaj will use this to raise the Kashmir-LOC issue during the Heart of Asia conference (in Dec). These deaths, plus the two ISIS claimed attacks in Balochistan, will be used to garner sympathy. They are not in a position to show false bravado so they might as well try to gain sympathy. This is my guess.

If that is Pak's strategy, chances of it being laughed out of the room are high

The Pak army rarely reveals casualty counts simply because it would compromise on their mardangi. The illusion of an invincible army must remain. I'm pretty sure they've suffered more casualties. At the moment, they are running out of options, so they've decided to play victim. 

Sartaz will do some nautanki. Just grab some :popcorn: and enjoy the show.

Pak army's #1 take-away from Kargil was not that they bungled the strategic choices they made, or underestimated Indian resolve or any of that.  They believe that their most important loss was in PR.  Since then, they have focused on information warfare and propaganda as a priority.  Which actually makes sense from their perspective - even if the rest of the world doesn't buy their BS, as long as the natives buy it, their position as supreme guardian of the nation and the benefits that go along with that are safe.  Indian policy responses need to raise costs for Pak military, NOT the Pak citizenry or government - PakMil doesn't care that much about either, when push comes to shove.

Pakistani army entrance question formulae.

Number of Indian soldiers killed by Pakistani soldiers >= (number of Pakistani solldiers killed by Indian army X2) +1

Number of civillians killed by Indian army >= 1+ {(number of Pakistani terrorists killed by Indian army X2) or (Number of civilians killed by pakistani army X2), which ever is greater}
