I read about two big-bash teams and one PSL team playing a tri-series together. Made me wonder how it would be if IPL teams played bilateral/tri-angular series amongst themselves...Imagine an RCB vs MI 3 match T20 series during an off-season. what do you think? Should BCCI think about this ? Don't think the franchise can do this all by themselves. They will need BCCI backing obviously.

Nope. Whoever is doing that (some pagal league) is killing the goose that lays the eggs. The leagues are perfectly fine. Don't overdo them.

doesnt this happen in soccer.... i don't think Messi and Ronaldo play for different clubs in different leagues? Is that correct?

In football they play for their clubs for most of the year with some international breaks in between. Kind of reverse of cricket. So it is impossible for anyone to play for two clubs.

Afridi also revealed that is he in touch with the owners of some IPL teams.

"We are in touch with them to play some matches between PSL and IPL teams, but for that we will need the approval of BCCI," Afridi added.

The inaugural PSL was held in UAE in February.

Both India and Pakistan have not played a full bilateral series after the Mumbai terror attacks in November 2008.

However, they faced each other in a short series in India from December 25, 2012 to January 6 comprising two T20 Internationals and three One-day Internationals.

The problem is the lack of talent .Football the hugely popular is in more than 100 countries so there is huge talent pool to access from particularly in Europe South America and Africa.

Whereas only 10-11 teams play international cricket so there is not enough talent for exclusivity .Imagine all the top players in the best leagues(say Aus , Eng SA and WI) decide to play in their own country (as it often in football) , even IPL would struggle to international stars for their team.

NO.  Especially not with opportunists of 2-paavli leagues trying to get some mileage out of linking itself to the biggest cricket league on the planet.  

 

And even Champion's league should be off for some time - it was a massive SOP to the other boards by the BCCI so that players will be provided to IPL, which was then in its early days.  Now that ICC is playing hardball with BCCI, there's no need to turn on that $ spigot just yet.
