Cricketics Posted November 30, 2016 Posted November 30, 2016 Big call but Hazlewood does give a lot of belief. Starc, I am not too sure about. Pacers like him do not last long enough in test cricket or have a good run and then can't keep consistency. Starc, has had a great last yearbut I am not yet sold about Starc, the test bowler. Even in the forth coming Border/Gavaskar trophy, India's biggest test would be Hazlewood. Starc for me will be the one who might come in handy while bowling to our no.7-11, but Josh Hazlewood will be the biggest challenge for our top and middle order. He has the ability to keep the ball consistently in the areas from whiich he can unsettle the batsman and find the edge of his bat. tweaker 1
BeautifulGame Posted November 30, 2016 Posted November 30, 2016 It seems delusion is pretty heavy among most international cricketers nowadays tweaker 1

Starc will be far more of a threat than Hazlewood will be in our conditions tweaker 1

I have watched enough Australian cricket to see how he is developing. One bad performance does not prove that he is going to suck in India. I hope he does suck in India but he will test our players for sure. tweaker 1

Hazelwood will do well in India...is a good new ball bowler and uses conditions well....more in the mould of stuart clark or paul reiffel...He might be lethal in good bowling condition or grassy tracks....Starc is once in a generation talent. maniac Posted November 30, 2016 Posted November 30, 2016 (edited) Yadav-Shami and if you add Ishant and Bhuvi to the mix,Indians have the best complete pace attack at the moment. It is just that our experts themselves don't go ga ga over our fast bowlers for some reason like they would do for upcoming talented batsman. Our fast bowling is clearly ahead of WI,SL,Pak,Bang so that leaves Eng,Nzl,SA and Aus and that is a debate we can absolutely have. Even in England , where the conditions where ideal for his type of bowling , Starc was far ahead . Its not just about threat level but the quality of the bowler.Hazlewood at best in these conditions is at best a attritional bowler . Starc is a match winner .
mishra Posted November 30, 2016 Posted November 30, 2016 No one will do well in India. Conquering Indian batsmen in India is not a job pacers can do. Its spin attacks, we are yet to decode

Even then it's debatable .Let's first see a series overseas (Eng/Aus/Sa/NZl) where our seamers take 20 wickets regularly before hyping out seamers . Umesh nearly averages 40 , Ishant 37 and you are talking about complete pace attack . Sidhoni and sandeep 2

We have 3 bowlers who can hit 140+ consistently...we have a bowler who is a fantastic swing bowler in Bhuvi....Ishant has proved again and again that when the conditions assist,he can run through sides....we have bowlers who can reverse swing it. All these bowlers are gaining in experience...apart from Ishant whom you can make a case for as playing a lot of tests, all the other bowlers are learning every day and getting better and learning their strengths much like a renewed Zak in 2006-2007. express bowling 1

Mate...i might have to disagree on this......at this point of time, Starc is ahead of hazelwood.... Well, in the recently concluded test series, Starc was not that effective because he was coming back from injury and not bowling 100%........Have you seen him bowl in Sl? He was devastating..... mishra 1
sandeep Posted November 30, 2016 Posted November 30, 2016 Until our bowlers put up good numbers with wickets, fans have to get themselves worked up with speed numbers. If speed was all that mattered Shaun Tait-wa would be an ATG in tests. Where is he these days? Samcric 1

He didn't play more tests because his body was fragile, not because he could not do well in tests. He even could only play 35 ODIs due to injuries while he has a great ODI record. He had to given up first class cricket at the age of 25 due to injuries. Edited November 30, 2016 by rkt.india

All I am saying is, let's hold off the hosannas until the Shamis and Yadavs can pull off a few Agarkars (Adelaide) or even Sreesanth (South Africa).

Bowling overseas is a completely different ball game where these guys have to be leader of the attack and they have let the team down time and again in that aspect. I am not really getting excited. At home, they were doing a decent job before too. Shami and Yadav both have done well overseas in patches though. Yadav on his first tour to Aus at MCG and Perth. Shami in SA and NZ but not enough to the win the games.
BeautifulGame Posted November 30, 2016 Posted November 30, 2016 We have 3 bowlers who can hit 140+ consistently...we have a bowler who is a fantastic swing bowler in Bhuvi....Ishant has proved again and again that when the conditions assist,he can run through sides....we have bowlers who can reverse swing it. Sami and Tait comfortably hit 150 and were pretty rubbish test bowlers .Umesh has played nearly 30 tests and has 1 five wicket haul averaging 40. It's no use having pace if u don't use that consistently to take wickets . Yes if pitch is helpful , our attack is quality becoz Bhuvi is world class in those conditions ( Ishant becomes decent) and Shami has looked very good in most conditions. But the problem is we hardly get green wickets when tour overseas to these countries .Most teams have probably realized this nowadays so we mostly get flat wickets with bounce and our seam attack has consistently sucked . As for experience, Umesh is already 30 and will be 32-33by he time we tour overseas .Ishant will be 30 as well.Hardly youngsters learning experience and will be on the peak of powers . Even in this ongoing series Yadav has been average at best apart from the first innings in Rajkot(Averages 60.00).Even after all these years his new ball skills are pretty poor .And you are claiming this is like Zak re emergence . Whatever. Complete pack attack ? Rabada Philander Abbott , Steyn and Morkel . We can talk about quality and complete attacks when our 30 year old seamers can finally learn and produce spells remotely comparable with what Rabada , a 21 year old , did in Perth . sandeep 1
