Jadeja was our MVP and our best bowler. I knew the Aussies will be competitve and hence never wanted to predict 4-0 like many did. Good on them for winning one match.

sandeep Posted March 28, 2017 Posted March 28, 2017 Renshaw flatters to deceive. He will fade away in a year or so, unless he massively develops his off-side game. He gets graded on a curve due to his age. But he is 1/10th a test batsman of say, a Haseeb Hameed. GoldenSun 1

He gets graded on a curve due to his age. But he is 1/10th a test batsman of say, a Haseeb Hameed. He has been inducted very young...doesn't have the same body of work of some of the other young debutants in recent times...sure there is a chance he will fade away just like the same thing can be said for every youngster with potential out there. You may think that I randomly pick names out of a hat but here is why I was impressed. He has a solid temperament. It was evident to watch against good bowlers in the Pak and SA series when he made his debut. Sure he is limited initially but in the innings against Pak when he scored 180+ the way he grew in confidence and gradually expanded his array of strokes showed that he can evolve rapidly. Even in this series, has shown nerves of steel and it is one of the most difficult tour for even veterans leave alone a youngster who has hardly played FC cricket. How can you say he is 1/10th of a test batsman as Hameed when Renshaw has more notable innings in his equally short career...sure Hameed apples to apples might be more talented...debate for another day. You need basic acumen and analysis to back a sentiment, not just total randomness. All the positives point towards a very successful career for Renshaw but strange things have happened...I mean who knew Lehman bros would collapse or Trump would be President one day waga and GoldenSun 2

Karthik contrasting Aussie openers' failures with their Indian counterparts Quote Renshaw, meanwhile, began his first tour of India with scores of 68, 31 and 60, on two of the most challenging pitches he must have encountered in his young career. After that, his scores tailed away, his last five innings bringing him only 73 runs at an average of 14.60. Before the tour, Australia's selectors and team management may have feared such a turn of events for their young opener - a bright start, followed by India's spinners working him out and working him over. Except it wasn't the spinners who worked Renshaw out; it was the seamers. Renshaw was out to spin in each of his first three innings of the tour, and out to either Umesh or Ishant Sharma in his last five innings. On all five occasions, he was out either playing indecisively in the corridor, away from his body, or stuck in the crease when he should have been on the front foot. In both innings in Dharamsala, Umesh peppered him with short balls. In the first innings, he followed a series of short balls with a full one that swung in through the gate as Renshaw played a leaden-footed drive. In the second, the short ball itself proved the wicket-taker. There was a pattern to these dismissals, a sense that India had worked out a way to induce uncertainty in Renshaw's mind and feet. In that process, he ended up being far less of a force on the two best batting pitches of the series, in Ranchi and Dharamsala, than in the two heavily bowler-friendly pitches in Pune and Bengaluru. You have your "acumen" and opinion of Renshaw, I have mine. Both are opinions. Agree to disagree and move on. To me, at this point, he's not much more than a glorified fat Akash Chopra. A limited batsman who has had a bit of early success, but is in the process of being exposed. Now, its possible that given his young age, he can continue to develop and plug the holes in his game. But I don't see him as a budding talent bound for future success. Quite the opposite. GoldenSun 1
