A different perspective of looking at Virat's captaincy

Jadeja batting at 5 should not be considered a bad move. The guy has 2 triple hundreds in Ranji trophy for crying out loud and it made sense to promote him and see what he can do at the top. So far there are only two bad moves I've seen from Kohli - taking the new ball in first Test and not giving Jadeja enough overs in the second one. Other than that you can't fault him for much and hopefully he learns over time.

Our struggles with DRS are more due to a less than confident wkt keeper in Saha. Ideally wkt keeper should be the one who gives you the feedback when to review or not as he has the best view. If our wkt keeper can't even convince the captain for a caught behind or looks so uncertain in his appeals and without much conviction it becomes all the more harder for a captain to nail reviews.

Blasphemy!!! he has 3 :p:

Those things matter if hes debuting, not when we have already seen him enough in Tests

And its not like were looking to declare so quick runs were needed. On a treacherous pitch you get a no.8 to no.5 ahead of guy like Nair whos anyway good vs spin.

It's to do with left right combo. Not to get quick runs

Kohli has to do this outside India, preferably in RSA/NZ/Eng/Aus. Many of our former captains have inspired us to victories from worse positions at home in the past. But this team feels different, just an intuition. I think they might end up as our greatest team over the next 4 years.

Completely agreed

Kohli might not be a gr8 tactical captain but as a captain he brings a lot of positives to the table

About tactics a lot depends on execution - u can have gr8 n diff fields but if ur bowlers bowls opp u will look foolish or even fielder drops a catch. Tactically he ll only get better with time. Many captains before had support of seniors on field with ideas . In case of virat most of them share similar exp or less

2 of kohli greatest aspects as captain

1. his on field energy n the never say die attitude on field

2. As batsman when things looks tough he can bat like a leader n do most extra ordinary things. A leader always leads from the front n kohli does that

Don't bowl Jaddu to lefties.Left right combo irrespective of ability

Weird theories

I can understand the rationale for doing so. A decent knock from Jadeja would've turned the tide in our favor and his 3 triple hundreds show that he has the ability to bat in the middle order so it was worth taking a punt on.

Give me a break !!

is this the fist time we are seeing an Indian team fight back ( is this really a fight back ? )  ? We are playing at home against an extremely weak Aus side in these conditions . One of our spinner ran through their lower order and the batting looked batter in whats arguably the best time to bat in this match .  The only difference between the last match and this one is that we batted first .

I watched most of the days match , we played very average cricket ..lets stop with this rubbish .

Like i said earlier , there is no reason to criticise Virat here too much , its quite pathetic to see the media already talking about his captaincy ..am not just worried about his captaincy , hes our best bat ..hopefully it does not start impacting his batting .

That does not change the fact that this is a series we should have won 4-0 , now anything less than a 3-1 is very embarrassing .

And moving Jadeja up the order wasnt such a bad move , Virat was probably hoping for some bonus runs and some momentum to the innings . The probability of such moves working in Test cricket is very less though , but no harm caused .

A decent knock from anyone would help obviously. But thats not how you make decisions

We were effectively 25-3 on a treacherous pitch. We needed stability and partnerships. Can Jaddu provide that?Ashwin would be still be good option

Thankfully Rahane batted well else could have been costly

My point was that it's understandable to send a guy with 3 triple hundreds up the order. At least there's some sort of logic in it and I wouldn't call it a poor decision. If the team think tank would've sent a bowler up the order to get some quick runs I would've called it a poor decision. But in this case not so.

The energy in team today was ridiculous

too fight back from first innings deficit . Forget tactics . Team showed character and desire

+1. Our batting unit is out of form and our number 1 strike bowler isn't 100% fit. We have won this match purely on the basis of character, mental toughness and bloody mindedness against a well oiled and brilliantly prepared Aussie team. Imagine how unbeatable we will be when our batsmen start playing to their potential !!!

Look kohli Indian team will lose games .

but when they will lose . Just like when Aussies ueses to lose they will lose covered in blood in the middle of the battle field . Sad to say many Indian teams in our history have just waved a white flag and run from the battlefield unscathed . This happened in our recent history to .

gamguly made a change in this . But he did only to some extent . Kohli taking in to whole new level and you see whole team up for it .

lets be frank we all admired great Aussie teams and wish our lot showed some agreesive and will to fight to the death attitude .

aussies gave our boys **** loads today . When Aussies went in to bat kohli makes sure they got it ten times back in controlled aggression .

No joke to come back from heavy first match defeat and first innings deficit . The attitude is what I love . The intensity in the field . Anyone whose been watching Indian cricket for as long as I have will understand

Exactly my thought process.

my best overseas test was the one in Adelaide when Kohli was named captained for one off match and he was trying to chase down 370

we lost that match but man, I loved that test match to bits. that was the day I realized Kohli has got balls.
