I'm talking about the larger view point..After world cup triumph I got this feeling that Dhoni didn't have much interest in playing test cricket and yet he continued to captain through one of our worst performances in recent years. I'm sure players at the time and even Pujara must have discussed on salary with Dhoni and coach
Zero_Unit Posted March 31, 2017 Posted March 31, 2017 300K usd for grade A players. Compared to other sports, not really much but then again that's plenty of $$$ compared to what players from other country makes. Thats enough money to make them live like kings in IND me thinks.

Make no mistake.Without fans none of these players exsist.First job of BCCI is improving the infrastructure in the country. No it isn't enough- if you're generating many crores more and paid less than your peers in the same industry. Sadly, most bbci money probably instead goes to improving infrastructure in Srini mamas dining room. Also what other profession only pays from about age 24-35? So on average these guys only get 11 years of their life to make money- it's their right to ask for much as possible Edited March 31, 2017 by mancalledsting beetle 1

Tell me which other sports body provides pension to retired players ? Paid less than your peers ? Check the purchasing power and cost of living ? Our cricketers are the top most paid sportsperson in India.English cricketers aren't even in the top 100 in their country. That's the peer comparison that is important.

G_B_ Posted March 31, 2017 Posted March 31, 2017 I guess most of these players barring pujara have good IPL plus ranji deals. Sent from my Wileyfox Swift using Tapatalk
Pollack Posted March 31, 2017 Posted March 31, 2017 This is what happens when you try to act smart and try to compensate 'Test specialists' for imaginary IPL money lost. Greedy players are never satisfied. They should thank their stars that they play for India. Go play for Zimbabwe. Shunya, Vilander and BeautifulGame 3

Sidhoni Posted March 31, 2017 Posted March 31, 2017 Its not like Pujara voluntarily opts out of IPL, he goes in auction every time. Also played for RCB and KXIP in the past IIRC. This time he was unsold.

Pretty much. Smith makes around 1.2M aus. David Warner and co makes about 900k. So yea definitely not much compared to them but in Indian money value I guess BCCI thinks it's doing its part. Like they say, give love to your employees and get love back in return. BCCI on the other hand fails to understand this concept.

That with IPL salaries and advertising. Australia, England I am sure might have very less cricketers compared to India and facilities as well. Players also get pension I do t know if Australia and English players get that. Edited March 31, 2017 by gattaca
beetle Posted April 1, 2017 Posted April 1, 2017 The players deserve their due.People watch cricket because of them , not bcci. They only have a few years to earn for their lives. Most of them come from poor homes. They are first expected to give their family and siblings a better life , then save for their retirement. That is what the expectations in Indian families is. The successful son will settle the other children of the parents.Get sisters married lavishly, get brothers settled. Bechara .Not every one gets endorsements like kolhi , Dhoni or Tendulkar. If the aussie and English boards can pay their stars big money.....why can,t the rich board pay our stars. The comparision to normal working Indians doesn,t make sense .Film stars earn even more. It is the question of what they are worth. Bcci's retirement scheme etc is commendable. But the money for that is coming because of they players.Paying them better will not empty Bcci coffers. horizonspeaks Posted April 3, 2017 Posted April 3, 2017 I believe not all of them are unhappy, but some of them has reason to be so, especially ones who stay exclusively on the bench! sandeep 1
Sidhoni Posted April 3, 2017 Posted April 3, 2017 They are already earning twice of what previous team earned.

Players aren't being greedy if you consider this Quote What has further irked the players is that their annual retainer is comparatively lower than that of their English and Australian counterparts. Different sources have estimated Joe Root and Steven Smith's annual retainers at between INR 8 crore and 12 crore. "When the ECB and CA compensate their players handsomely, why does the BCCI, the world's richest board, not do enough?" the source asked. "In addition, the BCCI's coffers have seen a huge increase since the introduction of the IPL, but the players don't get a fair share of such revenues. It is ultimately the state associations that walk away with the lion's share of the money." So, even though other boards make lesser money, test cricketers from other countries are making more money. Virat Kohli earns 2 crores while playing all matches for India but Root and Smith earn 4-6 times more. Why can't they get the same? Ironhide and beetle 2

Top board members of any business house will make more money in India than an employee of an oragnization with way too less profits irrespective of the cost of living index.

That is faulty logic.Thats assuming both business houses has same amount of expenses. BCCI have to invest in a billion people market in a developing market to develop infrastructure. Making money isn't equal to net profit. Edited April 3, 2017 by BeautifulGame
