“I’m hopeful, as a Gujarat Lions coach, that when we play RCB (Kohli’s Royal Challengers Bangalore) in a couple of weeks, that he’s not playing.

“Because if you miss one game of Test match cricket and you’re fronting up the next week for RCB versus whoever, Bangalore, at Chinnaswamy Stadium — you’d be pretty dirty if he didn’t front up to a Test match and try and win a valuable series against Australia — which has been pretty spiteful as well.

“You would think that your captain would get out there and get amongst the fight and get in there.”

Meanwhile, former Test players Brendon Julian and Brad Haddin have questioned Kohli’s day one approach of running drinks and messages to his Indian teammates.

Julian said Kohli had to realise you’re either playing or you’re not.

“The one sight out there that was quite puzzling was Virat Kohli out there running some drinks,” Julian said.

“This is the captain that said, ‘I can’t actually play because I have a shoulder injury’ out there running the drinks.

“I don’t get that. I don’t get that. I like Kohli. I think he’s a very good captain and he’s great for Indian cricket, but you don’t need to be doing that. You’re out injured. What is the point?”

Haddin said Kohli risked derailing the captaincy of his stand-in, Ajinkya Rahane.

“He’s out their captaining the team and you don’t want him running on because you know how big a personality he is in the changeroom. It’s his time to captain and what if he had different views on what Kohli has. Talk to him by all means in the changeroom, but you’re injured. Sit down and get some ice on your shoulder.”

So apparently Hodge has the level of education as an outback Sheila. Coz apparently he doesnt know that with aggressive top line sports medicine, 2 weeks = 2 months of normal recovery time. We've had plenty of sportsmen in the NHL who break a leg and are back in training within six weeks, back in the lineup in 2 months. So maybe Hodge needs to STFU and learn how high tech and cutting edge sports medicine is.

People saying kohli will play in ipl coz of money

a. Ipl still has 7-8 days to go , in which he can heal a lot more. But u dnt wanna understand this logic.....people cant digest that he is earning more

b. about the money logic well, kohli is a huge brand all he has to do is sign a few commercials and he can earn whatever he looses in ipl if he has to sit out in few games. He is the best judge of his injury and let him decide when he thinks he is fit.

Coz it's BCCI's showpiece event. Every Indian cricketer, especially the stars, would do whatever they can to make sure they participate in the IPL else it risks diluting the IPL brand. That's the reality and unless someone is literally dying or severely incapacitated, they will in the IPL... just like how all the Aussie players would play in BBL or SA players participate in their domestic T20 tourney. Kohli, Ashwin etc. wouldn't have any qualms about sitting out of any other tourney but IPL is different. By the way you continue showing your naivety with your posts and prove why you are not really an Indian cricket fan.

No you don't but at the very least one would expect you to have basic understanding of the matter and appreciation of the situation. You clearly don't as you are highlighting with every post. Every Indian cricketer, especially the marquee ones, will do everything in their power to participate in IPL. I would like most of the senior players to opt out but it won't happen for the reasons I've stated. But a B'deshi or any other non-Indian fan is unlikely to get it.

Someone who's just withdrawn himself from all import series decider due to injury must play in ipl because it's BCCI's showpiece event and in order to become a true fan of Indian team one has to support this ludicrous logic. Wow.

Why shud do ...........why would any cricketer loose out opp to earn money. At the end of the day its their bread n butter to. 

They have limited span of career and they shud earn max they could. 

Legend of game came played despite being retired.
