Need to give more chances to Nair. He has the potential to become very good. He didn't look completely out of sorts, just could not capitalize on starts.

My concern is he also failed badly in Aus A tour matches. He should prove himself by playing A tours and scoring runs there. We cannot afford to carry passengers overseas.

Here is some thought process we need to change - We need to have patience with youngsters (dnt say we do, i hve seen enough people writing off pandya, rahul, nair) if these guys wont fail how will they learn.

Writing off players in few innings is as stupid as anything.

How are we expecting ready made kapil dev, ab devillers from day-1. There is process that players go through

People called Rahul inconsistent and wanted him drop but with failures he learnt.

Rohit didn't deserve to be dropped. One doesn't have to be a lunatic @maniac to consider him as a replacement for Nair.

Nair also didnt deserved to be dropped after making 300 but he got

Rohit didnt deserve to get so many chance despite many failure and he got

Lets 1st give nair decent amount of chances before we write him off.......

A tour for Nair.

Iyer should be in reckoning for that 7th batsman slot.

I'd even rather play Jayant. Better temperament than Rohit with the bat and can be a part time option with the ball.

We won't be playing 6 batsmen overseas. No. 6 will be Ashwin/Jadeja/Jayant/Pandya.

If we do pick a batsman it has to be either Nair or Iyer.

Eh no. That idiot did not play any domestic game for god knows how long. Too fat and seems to be a 'Reluctant cricketer' like Raina.

Dinesh Karthik ,Shikhar Dhawan, Manish Pandey, Shreyas Iyer, Rishabh Pant - We need to pick someone from them. Also too early to drop Nair who just scored 300 in last series. C'mmon.

Lol wut....what did I just read.....cricketing acumen died a million deaths with the post......Rohit the reluctant cricketer what the hell LOLLLL-Fail 1

Now some haters will post pictures of bad camera angles and call him fat and names....seriously you fall for that? I can post unflattering pics of some hot looking women taken due to bad camera angles and call them ugly...jeez what kind of a one dimensional world we live in-Fail 2

Dinesh Karthik,Shikhar Dhawan,Manish Pandey in tests-Lol-Fail 3.

Congrats you justified the term 3 strikes with 3 fails.

Yeah if someone doesn't do well go back to Rohit. If this had been the case there wouldn't be a Rahul in the team now.

It's not actually going back to Rohit concedering he wasn't dropped in the first place. He got injured and Nair replaced him in the squad.

I expect Rohit will be back in the squad once fit considering his form before that injury set back.

People saying Nair's 300 deserves a longer run , Rohit 100 in the 2nd test on a tough pitch in NZL series was far more valuable than the 300 Nair scored on the flat Chennai track.

I think for now Rohit will be first choice no.6 for the team once fit .I am not fully convinced by Rohit as a test batsman either but his recent form at no.6 has been the best since Ganguly retired .

So he deserves the chance for the Sri Lanka series as no.6 batsman atleast.

Nair should go back to A tours and get back his form back.

Overwhelming Yes.

In what universe you drop a guy averaging 80+ in his last series,A guy who never drops catches,a guy who is a potential fantastic offspinner is beyond me.

Nair earned his chance.....Nair blew his chance....get back in line. Time for Rohit

My bad. I just feel Rohit should be treated the same way as any other player. We've floundered a lot in the past by selecting test players based on LOIs. We could have unearthed a few test players if we hadn't wasted time on players like Raina and Yuvi in tests.

Yes....get more chances when averaging 80 in a series....You can see clear bias in this thread. once again he averaged 80 with some match saving/winning knocks.

Fine I am a Rohit fan, hard to believe but check cricinfo if needed affirmation
