jalebi_bhai Posted March 28, 2017 Posted March 28, 2017 Can't believe I'm typing this, but Hitman had a decent series before he got injured. Nair has been horribly inconsistent. Has done nothing of note prior and post his 300. maniac and sarcastic 2
sensible-indian Posted March 28, 2017 Posted March 28, 2017 Nair must be replaced. But not by Rohit. beetle, Zestian, cowboysfan and 6 others 9

MCcricket Posted March 28, 2017 Posted March 28, 2017 Why not have a gutsy player like Jadhav in, he could win us some tough games, also can bowl n field n score fast. jalebi_bhai 1
jalebi_bhai Posted March 28, 2017 Author Posted March 28, 2017 Rohit is not my first choice either but he had shown definite signs of improvement until his injury. Jadhav would be an interesting choice. He has the game against spinners and would be good in India. Not sure about overseas. MCcricket 1

Pollack Posted March 28, 2017 Posted March 28, 2017 Yet another lucky Sharma. The nature just conspires to get Sharmas into the team.

Cricketics Posted March 28, 2017 Posted March 28, 2017 We need to persist with Nair for Sri Lanka series just like we have given chances to other players in the past after few failures. Showing faith in Nair just like we did for Rahul and Rohit in the past might help him. I don't know honestly how good he will turn out to be but I think dropping him right now won't be a good idea and fair to him. We have a good squad and all the batsmen in the squad should be retained for the Sri lanka tour. He has failed just like any other player fails in few games. Lets give him a break and keep him around the squad. Prince_ 1

I rate him as a batsman, but he needs to return to domestic cricket to rebuild his confidence.
coffee_rules Posted March 28, 2017 Posted March 28, 2017 Just one series is too short a rope, he should be tried for one more depending on how he performs domestic.

Nair is pretty bad against quality fast bowling, even on the flattest patta in the history of mankind where he scored the triple, he gave a catch in the slip against the second new ball when was batting on 200. If you edge to slip after being completely set on the a flat track then I can only imagine what will happen to him on livelier surfaces against faster bowlers outside asia.

Sl series will start before next Ranji season. So we can't see how he does in domestics before that. It is unfair to drop Nair. We need to keep him around.
coffee_rules Posted March 28, 2017 Posted March 28, 2017 (edited) Vijay is more worrying than Nair. I don't think Nairl play if we go with 5 bowlers and when Kohli is back. I mean Nair will not play if we go with 5 bowlers and Kohli is back. Edited March 28, 2017 by coffee_rules schumibest and Cricketics 2

I am not a Nair fan but I do feel that people analyze too much by seeing few dismissals and writing off someone based on a bad series or a particular dismissal. Yes, Nair sucked against fast bowling and had bad shot selection but then would you drop a batsman after just one series in whom you have invested so much? He has been a prolific run scorer in domestics and need to be persisted with. If he continues to fail, then fine we move on from him but to say that he will fail to fast bowling in future because he batted bad against fast bowling recently isn't correct or fair. sandeep and coffee_rules 2
rkt.india Posted March 28, 2017 Posted March 28, 2017 Need to give more chances to Nair. He has the potential to become very good. He didn't look completely out of sorts, just could not capitalize on starts. coffee_rules and Ankit_sharma03 2
G_B_ Posted March 28, 2017 Posted March 28, 2017 A tour for Nair. Iyer should be in reckoning for that 7th batsman slot. Sent from my Wileyfox Swift using Tapatalk schumibest 1
