ICC need to rethink ICC WC 2019 Schedule (30 May - 15 July 2019)

Last few years in UK, June has been one of the wettest months.

ICC need to push back the WC by one month into July to August, July & August are the driest and warmest months

But obviously ECB want to have the whole cake and keep their summer season untouched playing two Test series.

I *ing hate June. It's like a mini winter (except wetter and more annoying because cricket is scheduled to be played). As for 2019 two Test series and the WC are overkill, far too much cricket, but of course the ECB want to keep the cash flowing (bet the counties see very little of the money). Was really looking forward to the CT but I've lost interest already.

Ive lost interest in the tournament now... and the rain takes the cake.

ECB and ICC really need a reality check.

Australia wont host a WC in their winter.

India and SL wont hold a tourn in their peak monsoon season.

why cant England plan and do the same??

Yes but as any 'sane' person knows, there is no prolonged 'summer' in the UK where you have hot/sunny weather for more than 2/3 days in a row.

May and June are the wet summer months and  End July/Aug have the highest chances of being drier, so as logic states, hosting a tournament with the least weather interruptions should be done in the drier months.

it's not proper summer, i.e. July - August.

This is ridiculous.. i was expecting good games, a competitive tournament.. but its becoming a farce. Only way it would salvage some fairness would be no more rained out games.. and if NZ still qualifies... Aus was supposed to lose NZ so its even for Aussies. .

Yes if they absolutely must have it in June, they should at least try and limit the effect of the rain as much as possible by having reserve days. This is something they will have to look at for 2019. If this debacle can be used to improve things for the WC then at least it will achieve something.

Have to shift the tournament to July, otherwise it would be farcical to see games getting washed out or even getting constantly interrupted by rain in the World Cup. Already most people have lost interest in this tournament because of one sided games and wash outs.

This is becoming a drag really!! Tournament as short as this effectively gets killed in terms of interest if 2 games are already rained off. Ind-Pak was also frustrating

yeah but what happens if there is a band of rain lingering on for 2/3 days then the reserve days are pointless.

Id rather have matches when it is known to be drier.

Don't expect ECB to do anything about this. They are the worst of all cricket boards with crooks like Giles Clarke . They could care less about the quality of the competition . In all honesty, World Cups should take place only i n SC,OZ/NZ and SA. That's it.

Agree. BCCI and Cricket Australia should take a stand and demand it is moved. Even the camel lovers Pakistan would be a better host nation

Problem with Australia is that crowd sizes decrease in the cold. I noticed the yellow and black team in the local Australia football competition even had to use tarpaulins to spread across empty seats

Simple answer to this is that if any country wants to host world cup in its country, they need to give up it's summer of cricket or it's home season games to accommodate world cup games, as simple as that. Even if it is screwing their domestic games with less availability of good grounds, then so be it. You want to host the world cup, a world event, you have to give away something. Else don't host or bid for the tournament.

I think you are confused friend. Port Power est 1997 are the bandwagoning team and sell games to china (east Mumbai)

10 year average rainfall data for London (which considering the size of the UK will give a fairly good representation of the country) :

May 47.3mm
June 50.9mm
July 56.6mm
August 60.4mm

Statistically May has been the most dry but I suspect a certain other board would object to a world event pushing into that month as half of the 1999 world cup was with its singular rain affected game.

Check below map and you will see massive difference in rainfall colour code between months of April vs July/August. Thst doesnt mean April is best season

http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/public/weather/climate/

July and August are warmer too and hence despite that data showing more rain, There is better possibility of dry outfield and match start time to be half hour earlier i.e  10 AM and finish time to be around 8:30 PM in July and August.

In May, even with a rain a day earlier, pitches and outfield are generally damp and wet. June isnt generally bad either but still most ideal would be late June, most of July and  August.

Its not just the amount of rain by month - it should be the number of days that get rain in that month - that's the more meaningful statistic.   But our buddy Stumped here likes to stick with selected data that helps him defend slimy Giles and the ECB.
