This is important. This will prove how good or bad a captain Kohli is very soon. If Kohli makes the right decisions about olayers and India keeps on winning, then good and moment his decisions back fire, he can give captaincy to someone else. Clearly there was perhaps lot of difference in Kumble and Kohli whoch might have cost this final and hence Kumble has quit. Giving him fill power, we already know what happens. He was given full powers in RCB. Look where is the team placed! Link to comment

Kumble probably wanted more discipline and no gfs on tour. That really should not be any of his business. It should be a bcci decision. No need to be sanskari on the team. If he wants no families altogether, then I wonder how players from the past performed with families around. Players spend far too much time away from home and staying away for so long from wife and kids will have other problems . . Link to comment

The players have come off an embarrassing defeat; they are probably fielding social media critics, friends, relatives etc. all giving them a hard time. They know they f*d up. As a coach, that is the time to put your arm around their shoulders and not let them be discouraged; let them deal with the defeat in their own way. A day or two later, the criticism can come - with the goal of improving the bowlers and the team in general. Yes, he is a legend. Yes, he is tough as nails. Yes, he has character and appears to have high integrity. But if he does not know how to strike a good balance between nurturing and challenging his men, he will not be a good coach. This is not like the corporate world, where you can simply fire a player forever if they f up. sarchasm and beetle 1 1 Link to comment

Yep, as long as they are showing up for practice, giving a 100% in practice and in matches, and doing everything for team-success, nothing else should matter. Some of the best athletes are the biggest partiers. They can handle it all, and as long as they are not getting in bar fights and embarrassing the team, who cares. sarchasm 1 Link to comment
Sachinism
Kohli has come off looking like a spoilt brat. India are now in a very awkward position going forward. Who's gonna take on the role knowing the captain is an entitled twat? sandeep and beetle 2 Link to comment

Austin 3:!6
Not true. All reports suggest Kohli met on Monday before going to WI. There are no reports about meetings happening on Sat. Kohli had meetings on saturday evening. He did practice in the morning but Indian team left the stadium by 11.30. I went to the Oval on saturday afternoon but they already left by that time. Also all Indian media was reporting the evening before the game, Kohli was busy discussing coach. Sent from my GT-I9505 using Tapatalk Link to comment

Pollack
Informed insiders have talked, through the course of the tournament just ended, of a series of differences between coach and team. They tell of the star spinner who opted to sit out the IPL, not because his injury was debilitating or his recovery slow, but because he was doing an Achilles and sulking in his tent because he believed his franchise hadn’t given him his due. They talk of the coach questioning how a player, who for whatever reason had abstained from limited-overs cricket for the better part of five months, could walk back into a pivotal position in a crucial tournament. They tell of captain and coach disagreeing about whether various legends with storied pasts were batting at positions a bit too high for their current form, leaving the middle order enfeebled. They talk of the coach’s insistence on discipline – on turning up at the right time in the right gear for practice, for team meetings, and contributing in full measure to both. And they talk of an incident from the warm-up phase of the tournament. Kumble, insiders say, had made meticulous notes while the team was in the middle, then spent time with the video analyst to pull up relevant clips relating to how individual batsmen and bowlers had performed and what, in his opinion, could be done to improve. He collated these clips, created extensive notes for each player, and slipped the notes and videos under their doors late that night. A couple of days later, he discovered that the notes had remained unread, the videos unwatched. And that triggered a dust-up – shortly after which word first began to spread about unrest in the dressing room. https://thefield.scroll.in/841287/an...entitled-brats ThePhenomenal1, GoldenSun, sandeep and 1 other 4 Link to comment
kosingh
Cricketers have way too much power. They basically pushed Bhogle out (i dislike Bhogle's commentary, but don't like the idea of cricketers pushing out commentators). And now they push Kumble out. Kumble could have handled this differently, but indian cricketers went over the top after WC 2011. WC2011INDIA and sandeep 2 Link to comment

The legendary leggie, who has had a memorable stint with the Indian team, decided to take the step after reports of his alleged rift with Indian skipper Virat Kohli hit the Internet. A new revelation has been made regarding Kumble's resignation. According to sources, in a team meeting two days ahead of the ICC Champions Trophy final, Kohli had an argument with Kumble and he even abused him. Kohli also told Kumble that members of the Indian team were not in favour of him continuing as coach post which the latter said, "Enough is enough." I don't care how good player you are but this is just not acceptable at this point i don't even mind if he was thrown out of the team for this kind of behaviour Edited June 21, 2017 by BeautifulGame nevada and WC2011INDIA 2 Link to comment
