Is Jadeja honestly the best ODI spinner we have?

So what exactly is his role in the ODI team?

If he is an allrounder, then how many match winning innings has he played with the bat? The only one I remember was the Champion's Trophy final in 2013 against England where he batted with Kohli.

If he is a pure bowler, then how can his bowling average of 35.7 (36) be justified? He is a failure with the ball agaianst the big teams as stated in the OP. Surely we expect much better performances from our premier ODI spinner

he is not even close to the top 5. The only benefit he brings is fielding, but its not quite Jonty Rhodes level to disregard other aspects of his cricket. His ODI bowling has been very mediocre over the last few years and batting wise, he only contributes when match has been lost and he helps himself to an unbeaten knock to boost his average. Seriously lacks hitting prowess crucial for a player who comes in to bat at his number. Should continue for Tests in India, but LOI cricket should find him nowhere near Indian team.

We should play Krunal when we want additional hitting power. Pandya brothers can contribute 15-16 overs with rest coming from Jadhav. The rest 30 overs can come from Kuldeep/fast bowler, Bhuvi and Bumrah

When we need an attacking option, consider a leggie - either Chahal or Mishra or some other attacking spin bowler. Ashwin could be backup option, but not really an attacking option.

He is neither a power hitter nor a proper batsman, neither is he a conventional spinner WTF is he

Likes horse riding and has twirly moustache and a twitter account that says Rajput- that right there should give away a lot as to what kind of a poser this idiot is even though has nothing to do with cricket

The Indian selectors don't know to differentiate between LOIs and Test Cricket. This is what happens when you appoint old hags from different era as selectors.

One needs to compare other sides test vs LOI squads. Ours is almost same for both..And we have been doing this for decades now and we got away with that or the expectations have been low anyways.

His ODI bowling stats are quite poor tbh, just as good as some Pakistani part-time spinner/batting all-rounder (who will hardly get a quote of 10 overs)...

last 2 years ODI bowling avg: 64

Nothing else is needed to judge the ODI bowler Jadeja!!!!!

Bowling average of 64 is highly unacceptable even for part-timers (who are full time batsman).

He was good in the past, reaching #1 in the ODI rankings, but he hasn't been good for a long time. Honestly, there is no point in coach vs captain drama when the selectors select consistently under-performing players.
