Get Washington Sundar into Indian LOI team already

He is an opener.Opened in junior cricket and also TNPL.Was reserve opener last season for TN Ranji team.

thnx. Even if not as an opener in tests, he can be good for the senior team in odis and t20s.

The purpose of me opening the thread was because I was impressed with Sundar the bowler. Have not seen his batting much so will reserve my judgement. But he looks like a good bowler and can be tried in LOIs.

He could potentially become a genuine all rounder like Shakib who is good in both bowling and batting. Or as he gets experience may become better in one skill over other, as he still has age by his side.

although sakib is good in both disciplines, he is a chicken. I hope sundar won't end up that way.

Man of the series in his first T20I tournament...Didn't get to bat at all, coz captain knows jack about his batting skills. Has an average IPL, doesn't get to bat there also. Dropped from team after that. Who is to blame here?

kid needs to learn to turn the ball in the first place to be considered as a spinner. Belongs to the same class of Krunal and the ODI dropouts ashwin and jadeja. Only good thing going for him now is his age.

He is batsman who can ball. You can't ask him to bowl like front line spinner. How many off spinners can turn the ball on a flat pitch without chucking. His strength is trajectory and variations in pace .

Actually i think he is suitable for T20. His trajectory can be awkward for lefties. It sort dips rapidly. We have to keep him in the radar. Not totally discard him.

This in a nutshell is the problem plaguing Indian cricket. Picking batsmen for bowlers and vice versa. I don't buy this escapist argument.

 

If the Kid is given the ball he should be able to take wickets or trouble the batsmen, at-least stem the run flow. At present the team is full of half baked name sake all rounders who are not able to do one job properly.

that selectors fault who are playing him as a bowler.

He's being looked at as a specialist T20 player based purely on his IPL performances else he does not have much to show for being in the national squad. But out of Krunal/Sundar, only one should play and for me that'll always be Krunal unless we are playing in Asia where Kuldeep, Krunal and Sundar can all be in the 11.
