T20I batsmen since 2016 - Is Dhoni our 2nd best T20 batsman after Kohli currently?

The OP proves that it took Dhoni 10 years to even manage some decent strike rate. If you check his stats from 2008-2015, he didn't even manage a strike rate of 115. If so much time was given to any batsman in the history of the game specially at number 6, we would have had a sure shot match winner. 

 

As as I keep mentioning it earlier, he bats at a strike rate of 100 till 17 over. So usually by this time he is at  27 of 26, 16 of 16, 21 of 21, 10 of 11, and then in in last three overs he hits some 12 runs over. Now this strategy is pathetic as it means India will have 110 by 17 overs, and maybe 146 by 20 overs. And that is a pathetic score for a T20. His fans will go GAGA over his last over sixes and will say that he saved India from a collapse but they will forget that it was him who brought India to a pathetic situation of not being able to score above 170. I rather have us 135 allout trying to get  175 than sometime trying to guide us to 145 by playing slow from 8th over to 18th over.

but how the hell has Rahul who plays 6 matches...out of which has a 100 and a 50 in those 6 games...has a s/r of 160+  Is   sitting out of the x1 in THIS T20 team???

No doubt KL Rahul and Kohli are the two best over the said periods. let's give benefit of the doubt and say that Dhoni is the third best of a possible six batsmen. Who were the other three that Dhoni was better than?

If Dhoni fans are getting so desperate these days that they need to cite his superior performance relative to a bunch of consensus t20 misfits, then it really shows that they are scraping the barrel and that he needs to go quick.

 

It's also interesting to note that whilst his "average" (wink wink) is 42 the actual average number of runs he scored per innings was 17, highlighting the extent of the contributions he actually made. The 13 not outs are what's inflated his average to ridiculous and unrepresentative proportions. 

 

Like I've said before, he's boosted his career off of opportunism and using not outs. Please for the sake of the country end true cricket lovers, let's get this garbage out of the team. Time to take out the trash.

man this is indeed a predicament for India. Dhoni has dimnished, he was probably second to Kohli but now he has dimnished, he can not hit out with assurance, he is pretty good for ODI but for t20 you would need bats who can hit out.

 

There are 10 wickets for 20 overs, so Dhoni can play till they find someone better, but need to find some hitters at top of the order and why the * is Rahul not playing lol.

Lol KL rahul --- dhoni and kohli played 26 and 23 respectively.... where he played 6   last not forget he flopped against SL  which cost his his place in squad.

those stats are very misleading because the avg. was padded by not-outs and the SR by late hitting in useful contexts.
