puneet28 Posted November 6, 2017 Posted November 6, 2017 Dhoni's numbers are misleading. He has good average because many time he stayed not out and if he scored runs then it was too late for team to win. While, I would take proper loss if players are showing intent to score runs rather than decreasing the difference from total to be chased in the end. Last match was perfect example. Dhoni started hitting after 18th over, when match was virtually over for us, but by records Dhoni scored 49 out of 32. Now, for someone who did not follow the match, one could say he played well and tried to chase it, but in reality, Dhoni increased pressure on Kohli by his slow batting. Long ago, this approach worked for Dhoni when he would take singles and doubles easily and maintain SR of 100 but nowdays he plays too many dot balls that put pressure on other batsman and mostly that batsman gets out in search of big hits.

Plenty of time to get set and then launch time around the 15th over. Drop Dhawan and let Pandya be the finisher. #MSOpener Laaloo, velu, Rasgulla and 1 other 1 2 1

No one is talking about averages here. He has better SR than all other Indian batsmen except KL Rahul who has played just six matches. He has among top 10 batsmen in world in terms of batting SR. If he is really worst T20 bat as ICF is projecting these days, why there aren't 25-30 batsmen in world who have better SR than him? SR is best way to judge a T20 batsman. Shunya and Rasgulla 2

putrevus Posted November 6, 2017 Posted November 6, 2017 Dhoni stats are like Imran Khan's stats in batting. Imran Khan was tailender for most of his career he made merry late in his career as batsman and raised his average which ended up better than his contemporary all rounders. The fact is Dhoni is/was a useless t20 player who has survived this long just on basis of other people doing his job and him getting the cheapest and easiest runs to end up with good stats. People need to get their heads examined if they think Dhoni is a good t20 player. A finisher in T20s should have SR 145 plus and should have ability to a 25-30 ball half century when given a chance. Our great guy has one half century in 82 matches should be a good tell tale sign to all who think this fraud is good t20 batsman. No doubt he was poor T20I international batsman during from 2009-2015. This thread is about his current performance. You mentioned a finisher should have SR of 145+. Dhoni fulfills that criteria. How many other finishers in world have that SR btw?

Him being part of this team itself is a joke to begin with, even a mediocre player will have occasional good performances but I don't recollect more than couple of good performances from Dhoni in a decade. Second yesterday is classic example of Dhoni's stats looking good but reality is his inability to increase the tempo and inability to even rotate strike hampered Kohli also .His stats were/are just window dressing. Down the road when people look those stats they think wow this guy was good finisher but reality is he stunk as a t20 player, much like Imran Khan who stunk as a batsman and made merry with easy runs to end with good stats. Yes Imran khan was not a very good batsman actually . Not an all rounder really .
Ankit_sharma03 Posted November 6, 2017 Posted November 6, 2017 In last t20 Wc he was , which shows our bad state Ideally it rohit who is our second best batsman but he has been poor in recent t20 Wcs Thats why our t20 side has some serious issues, Our 2nd best batsman acc to numbers in reality doesnt deserve a place in side On ability our 2nd best batsman rohit has been a no show in last few t20 WCs This t20 batting lineup is a one man show of kohli , Pandya is the other hope............baaki sab andher nagri hi hai About dhoni, i have said time n again take stats or series he is not the biggest problem .......taking his head off wont solve much . Even at his dip ull find in many series him being our 2nd 3rd best batsman Laaloo 1
putrevus Posted November 6, 2017 Posted November 6, 2017 What happened yesterday is symptomatic of what is happening in last few ICC tournaments. The top three and bowlers are blazing thru initial matches and few knock out matches. But the moment they fail to take this team over the line , team ends up losing. The spare parts of this team are useless and that starts with Dhoni. But people will come out and give statements like Dhoni is not the problem for this team and there are other bigger problem. No there are no bigger problems than Dhoni for this team as he is the one in middle order who has shore up if top order fails. But Dhoni has failed every time.If there was another WK who is fearless gets a chance to prove himself it will take so much burden off Kohli's shoulders. Laaloo and sergio04 2
