AmreekanDesi Posted November 25, 2017 Posted November 25, 2017 Even with Starc and Hazelwood (admittedly quality bowlers) this Aussie team would be bang average without Smith has any ONE player raised the level of a team so much single handedly in recent years?
Cricketics Posted November 25, 2017 Posted November 25, 2017 He does make Aussies look better. I do like Handscomb and believe he is quality player but Smith alone is carrying this batting line up most of the time in major series and othernplayers chip in every now and then.
Vilander Posted November 25, 2017 Posted November 25, 2017 Same with all pak teams with all players they ever had playing.

Pujara has chipped in india more along with scoring in countries like South Africa. India is one of the only lines up along with South Africa where lot of players chip in and score runs, and no wonder these both sides are always leading the test rankings. Old guy 1

chewy Posted November 26, 2017 Posted November 26, 2017 It's possible for Smith in Australia because he got Starc and Hazelwood at his disposal, with good spinner in Lyon, and now Cummins performing, getting to 300 in Tests will always be competitive for them in Aus.
rtmohanlal Posted November 26, 2017 Posted November 26, 2017 Not really ...Smith started his career when Ponting,Hussey,Clarke,Mitchell Johnson etc were playing.Ryan Harris,Lyon,Warner,Starc,Hazle wood,Cummins,Katich,Haddin,Siddle,Watson,Voges all were/are good/very good/great players who gave/give company to Smith. The Aussie team might not be the atg team of the 1995-2007 period. But yet they always keep up a minimum standard.
Shunya Posted November 26, 2017 Posted November 26, 2017 Similar to what people used to say about Sachin in 90s. One man show. This has to be worst Aussie team ever. He is single handedly performing in all crucial games everywhere.
Vijy Posted November 26, 2017 Posted November 26, 2017 Smith has Warner, Khawaja and Handscomb (and the recently retired "Bradman" Voges) at home. Abroad, esp. in Asia, he is pretty much the only quality batsman that they have.

waga Posted November 27, 2017 Posted November 27, 2017 Batting lineup Starc, Cummings, Hazelwood, Lyon still the best bowling attack in the world

Gollum Posted November 27, 2017 Posted November 27, 2017 I don't think so, just look at their bowling resources: Starc, Cummins, Hazlewood, Pattinson, Bird, Lyon. Other teams would die to have such kind of bowlers.
