Rahane has been living off past glories for too long, his recent record is dismal but won't get dropped because has influential backers.

Never really rated him, too one-dimensional and has terrible defeatist body language. Increasingly looking like a poor man's Gambhir. Take out two good years and the rest is distinctly mediocre.

He is in the worst form of his career so far, has not been scoring even in Ranji. All batsmen have such periods, so hopefully he will find back his form before SA tests. Also being a poor starter against spin doesn't help.

Rahane has the support of the powerful Mumbai lobby, his place will never be in question in any format. I can make peace with the fact that he deserves a spot in tests but what about T20s and ODIs?

Azhar Ali was playing while being injured. Sri-Lanka took advantage of that and bowled to our weakness which got the wickets popping.
