Few times we have seen when other members put their hands up on seaming conditions, its MSD who comes to rescue. And I must add that Dhoni is better in these conditions than anyone in the current team, including Kohli.

That innings vs Pak in Chennai 2012, in England tour 2014 when everyone strugging to counter seam only MSD came to rescue and again today.

MSD - An out and out fighter.

I'll give you the other knocks but today? come on. The guy was declining singles to get on strike when Lakmal was bowling. Kuldeep looked more assured and Dhoni faced Perera the most. Watch the match.

He has played some awesome knocks (not today), credit where due. Kohli is inferior to two dozen batsmen on difficult pitches, so not a big deal.

It is easier to be a better bat in seaming conditions when you don't bat in the top order and continuously expose the tail to save your wicket till the ball is old and the overs of the opposition's best bowler are over

Yeah, that's why everyone else batting outside top 3 is doing the same what Dhoni does.

That was just once when Kuldeep was new at the crease. Once he got confidence in Kuldeep, he regularly took singles. Now he is decling all singles to Bumrah as well.

He is not a top order batsman...that is not his job.

Don't explain what's actually happening. Dhoni is making Bumrah face 10 balls every over.

If only he had guts to come out and bat at number 3 in such conditions, its easy to feast on perrera after hiding it at number 6.

Wouldn't help Kohli and others to go back from other end.

Dhoni has no technique or what we call poor technique...but has a heart of steel, temperament, will to fight, analyzing everything on the go...no wonder everyone who has played cricket keep on talking about his super mind and senses of how to handle the situation...others are too one track in their thinking and hence they end shitting when situation is different from usual...

I just feel glad that we saw someone like Dhoni play cricket for our team...great player to have in the team.

What VVS said during innings break. This is kind of pitch where batsmen can't play conventional cricket and expect same results. They were on front foot playing normal shots, while Dhoni shuffled outside off and ensured that even if he is hit, it's outside off and there is no edge. Moreover he was outside crease which means bowlers had to alter the length. It was easier to play on backfoot than on front foot here.

He did what we have seen Sachin doing for years. Only difference is that it looks like poor manufactured technique by Dhoni, however basic idea was similar for both batsmen.
