Once there was another batsman who wasn't thrown away from the team for friends after averaging 34 in 12 matches.

 

 

At least Rahane had good career record and proven performances to back him.

 

This guy had career average of 39 and still captain backed him.

Exactly, virat was a young improving cricketer who was improving with each game, rahane on the other hand is a 28 year old settled Indian cricketer who is regressing with every match, big big difference between the two

Yes his stats are bad but I expect people to give me a replacement for Rahane and a better number 5 or a better player than him you want to play before asking for him to be dropped.

 

Remember he failed at home but must play based on his over seas reputation for at least few more tests.  This is just one innings he failed in.

 

 

I am all for giving him 3 more tests in England at least.

Why Rayudu has not been considered for selection any more? He does well only.

Can't blame him yet. Poor guy has been turmoil whether he will play or not play throughout the series. Then no match practice whatsover and get thrown into the squad of a lively pitch. Unfortunately with this being the last test there is no time for him to prove himself (in case he does not click in the 2nd innings).

Dropping Rahane for Rohit in this series has to be one of the braindead decisions in recent memory.

 

Only bettered by dropping Bhuvi in the last test.

 

We most likely would have been 1-1 going into this test if both Rahane and Bhuvi played all 3 tests.
