sm332 Posted February 7, 2018 Posted February 7, 2018 dont think so - i suspect they are aiming at 325
adi B Posted February 7, 2018 Posted February 7, 2018 Not possible with roadblocks like rahane and dhoni unless pandya and kohli go nuts
Austin 3:!6 Posted February 7, 2018 Posted February 7, 2018 With beast like Dhoni coming up...I think 400 is on. New guy, SG1994, Jimmy Cliff and 3 others 1 5
sandeep Posted February 7, 2018 Posted February 7, 2018 I think 315 will be enough to beat SA. But this is a 340 par type of wicket. And typically, we are huffing and puffing our way to 310, since neither of our openers was able to get the "big one".
GolGappe Posted February 7, 2018 Posted February 7, 2018 If Kohli goes within next 1-2 overs, even 270 would be out of reach.
coffee_rules Posted February 7, 2018 Posted February 7, 2018 Highest chase on this ground is 258..We will end up having plenty if we cross 280.

coffee_rules Posted February 7, 2018 Posted February 7, 2018 oh boy, is he good or what! Amazing form as batsman, hazaar gunah maaf!

Always looks like that after the fact. But a 250 would have meant that SA could have "zondo-ed" their way through the KulCha spells and still had a comfortable chance with wickets in hand.
Mariyam Posted February 7, 2018 Posted February 7, 2018 I think we can 'score' a 370 only if we want RSA to sign the instrument of accession. New guy, sandeep and gattaca 3

If they were chasing 250, I think we could have still won, albeit narrowly.

This is not a new problem for India, batting first and unable to get to par or par+ inspite of having Virat (or someone else) batting so well. Our bowlers are good and have improved, but some day this penchant for leaving runs on the table is going to bite us - just like it did in the league stage game against Sri Lanka in the CT. And I don't want it to happen in the WC. Nothing better than to win the WC in England. Break the streak of host nations winning it. And unleash Bhangra at Lords. Again.

Again. with this middle order, I doubt if they can win in Eng. most other bases are covered - Rohit, Dhawan and Kohli have done well in ODI is general (and quite well in Eng to varying degrees), and the bowling is looking well-rounded. But, we need to fix the middle order and also sort out the 5th bowler - with Pandya's current level, he can bowl 7-8 overs on avg (10 on good days and 5-6 on bad), which means that we need a 6th bowler.
