Police is unwilling to step in and Mamata has refused Central assistance. Complete media blackout in Bengal, no media person is being allowed inside the affected areas. This is even more severe than Canning riots of 2013 in terms of extent of damage to property. Unlike Canning this time Muslims from Jharkhand and Bihar arrived in trucks to plunder Hindu areas, all the instigators are Urdu speaking Muslims backed by the coal mafia (Dhanbad-Raniganj is a rich coal belt, Gangs of Wasseypur wallah) which again unsurprisingly is totally dominated by Muslim goons. Bajrang Dal and VHP carried out rallies but what chance do plastic trishuls have against semi automatics and grenades? Bengal police must be the biggest coward force in the world. One brave DSP tried to do his duty but he lost his right hand, rest of the force fled at the 1st sight of Muslim mobs. The brave police officer was admitted in Durgapur Mission hospital which was guarded by TMC workers. Governor Tripathy tried to meet him but wasn't allowed inside the city, obviously the ruling party doesn't want the truth to come out, hence this blanket ban on media/opposition parties/NGOs etc. Spoke to some of my friends in Asansol and they are spooked, never since Independence has this region seen such a large scale of violence and destruction. Entire city is a ghost town and they tell me the casualty figure is being deliberately under reported, apparently more than 20 people have died but news channels say only 5. There has been mass molestation and hackings in a place 100m near my former place of residence. Outsiders are the main reason for this violence and because of political patronage and support of local goons 10% of the population has taken the entire region into a huge crisis. Hindus are fearing to step out of their houses, the 1000s who left are yet to return and even if they return what's left? Their houses have been burnt down, their jewellery/money/vehicle/TV/fridge etc looted and ration cards/certificates etc destroyed . It is one thing to get your ass whooped in Murshidabad but allowing this in Asansol-Raniganj-Durgapur...my mind is unable to process this. Not only are these heavily Hindu majority but also many Bihari/UP Hindus settled here in the past few decades, have they also turned into scared bunnies after spending their lifetimes in Bengal amidst Bengali Hindu cowards? Pardon my language but my heart bleeds for Bengal. Even though I am an outsider I have always considered Bengal as my home. Most of my idols are Bengalis from a bygone era, nothing inspires me more than the Bengal Renaissance, so it breaks my heart to see the state fall apart. 35+ years under CPM and 2nd term under TMC...seriously WTF.
