IPL form shouldn't be taken seriously unless it is sustained for more than three seasons Switchblade, Gollum and express bowling 3
Moochad Posted May 14, 2018 Posted May 14, 2018 IPL is LOI so yes he may be capable for LOI, the problem is do we think he is good enough for #4 or 5 spot, which is the place that has an opening. 1, 2,3 are pretty settled in ODIs, but T20 team needs a whole new restructuring.

He's in consideration for WC.. which is a year away.. 34 is not a bad age to be playing a WC.. Other 'young talents' will likely be in consideration after 2019 WC

Hardik This means 4 and 6 are open. At 6 we need a big hitter cum 6th bowler. So, Rayudu is not suitable for this slot. That means Rayudu is being tried for 4. We already have Rahul and Kartik for this. We should have tried a big hitter cum 6th bowler in place of Rayudu ... for the open 6 slot.

We need a 6th bowler who can bowl 4 or 5 overs to cover for the inevitable bad day that one of the 5 primary bowlers usually have. Just 1 big hitter is not good enough in modern day ODIs. Atleast 3 or 4 are needed. This is why I want Rahul at 4. He can hit big when needed.

He might as well retire after the 2019 WC. Pandey has been dropped from the ODI side. Current form in T20 tournament played in Asia may not translate to a good ODI performance in England.
