he avg 60 last yr but the problem was his s/r which was 84, not gr8 by modern standards 

The reason i have beilved in him for long becoz if a man at his dip can avg 60 shows how good he is, s/r the weakness can be improved which we saw in IPL. Then he contributes as a leader to the team and he literally helping our inexperienced spinners from behind the stumps which is a gr8 help to them and ofcourse our captain clueless needs him . 

 

IF u see his entire career , ull find 1-2 bad yrs in ODI and that is why he is being backed by whole cricket fraternity

I dont know why lot of posters hate him. We wish we had Dhoni in Pakistan side who is a genuine finisher where we are lack of these type of finishers in our side specially when chasing.

I dont see india having any chance if Dhoni does not have a great WC . 

Virat is easily the best ODI player india has produced ,but hasnt stepped up in bigger tournaments , so the only other reliable world class bat we have is Dhawan . 

 

Dhawan - best ODI opener in the world and does better in big tournaments )

Rohit ( zero expectations here ( though you can expect a couple of zeroes ) . Negates Dhawan completely with his tuk tuk and potentially cant cost us crucial matches   ) 

Virat ( a lot to prove this WC , will pressure get to him ? )

dhawan in odi's can destroy any attack.....rohit too like dhoni needs 20-30 balls and also doesn't perform in knockouts.

in knockouts i only have trust in kohli and dinesh karthik.

if either of Virat or Dhawan has a bad tournament its over for us , but two these cant win a WC on their won so the third hope is defiantly Dhoni ( The pitches will suit him in England compared to India , I wudnt be very positive if the WC was in Aus/WI/SA ) .

DK , I know what hes capable of , but I wudnt put my money on him inpsite of his recent form  . Rohits issue is much more than just tuk tuk batting .

dk.....is in his best phase of his career, also captaining for kkr has made him mentally tougher ....he has matured, he always had talent,but now he has a positive mental aspect...expecting good things from him.

well, saf played only 1 spinner in odis but still dhoni couldn't finish games for us....hopefully he continues his form in england from ipl.

I think Dhoni at no 5 makes sense , I want Rahul to be  given a go at no4 for whole series in England without touching him.

Lets hope so .

I will leave the IPL performances aside , cos hes done this in previous editions as well . So for me the only thing new is that one great knock against Bangladesh , will that translate into a great WC with him finishing matches for us against good sides and may be in KO's ? Not sure

That's because a lot of "Indian fans" here and most probably in real life too are basically Sachin fans. If Sachin scores another 100 100s and India continue to lose, they will allow him to play for another 20 years. If somebody says Sachin may have played some selfish innings in his career, this site may come down crashing .

Dhoni has made these guys' lives easier by winning games that could go either way that they think anybody can do the thankless job. Before Dhoni started his career, India was called "always a bridesmaid never a bride", choking in cup finals. I even recollect choking to SA in one of the finals. We also had wonderful keepers before him like MSK Prasad, Sameer Dighe, Saba Karim, Deep Dasgupta, Ajay Ratra, Pappu Patel . Our keepers were so bad that Ganguly asked Dravid to keep so that they could play a quota player like Dinesh Mongia. They wont know the difference Dhoni made until he retires.

You are correct. Indians will miss dhoni big times when they choked in chasing and losing to opposition teams by small margins.   Dhoni is the best finisher of all time.

No one hates him. He is not good and others are better.
